His dad requested prayers ... surgery for something seen during a CT scan of his head this morning.

ETA: He's the officer that's been in the hospital since July 17 after the BR shootings.

I defer to board physicians, but probably exploratory to remove a clot or drain pressure. It isn't a fantastic development and opening skull presents a whole range of other problems. But, beyond the risk of the surgery itself - it isn't de facto terrible news, either.

I apologize that I haven't been following that closely, has he been in a medically induced coma most of this time? I think this kind of development is, unfortunately, common with prolonged medical comas.

Our prayers remain with him, most definitely.

I'm in. And to think I was feeling a bit sorry for myself earlier while Nick and his family courageously deal with this. Thanks for the reminder.

His father has a fb page Nick Tullier Strong and he updates daily typically very early mornings.

Iirc he's never been in a medically induced coma ... And maybe two weeks ago he followed commands from his doctor and his family. Wiggles toes and gave docs a thumbs up.

That in itself if amazing. I don't know him but I don't want him forgotten about.

Not to mention that Nick's parents house and maybe rv also flooded. They lost a vehicle and he said that All Star Ford was awesome in helping them out and making the transaction super easy when purchasing a new vehicle.

The dad has also had the ear of Biden and Obamas personal physicians in what rehab to send him to. Can you imagine???

Terrible news after positive thread this morning that he was about to transfer to rehab hospital in Houston. Hopefully all goes well and he's in Houston soon.

For those who know more than me... Is this true "rehab"? Or are they basically trying to get him back to where he can live in an assisted care facility long term?

I have no idea. I work in a nursing home and we have a resident who was in an MVA ... She's breathing on her own and that's it. Also has a trach. No purposeful movements or anything.

Nick made purposeful movements. That has to mean something positive. Or maybe I just really really really want it to be positive.

So I truly don't know the answer. But it is a true rehab facility and not a long term care facility from what I gather.

TIRR is one of the best rehab facilities for brain injuries. The Congressman that was shot in the head in Arizona went there and she has had a pretty successful recovery. Definitely a great place for Nick to go.

Nick is out of surgery. Doc was confident of the outcome. Nick will be back in ICU for a few days.
