re: DEA announces that marijuana will remain a Schedule 1 drug - like LSD & heroin

I gave an explanation of how the system works for scheduling of drugs. I guess you have no idea how many drugs are derived or identified as naturally occurring compounds that are then synthesized in a lab. This can be done for many reasons - scale, costs, isolation of active isomers, formulation of acceptable salts, and controlled dosing (one of the more important). I could teach you to grow some foxglove in your backyard. Good luck figuring out how to control your heart failure without dying first.

I'm not arguing legality. My argument is it is addictive. Studies prove it. Not as bad as other drugs, but to say it is not an addictive drug is complete bullshite.
People are "addicted" to caffeine, sex, eating, sugar, smart phones, Facebook, etc. Should all of these be schedule 1 narcotics as well?
Posted on 8/11/16 at 11:17 am to Taurus
I would think mildly addictive would be the classification. Withdrawal less displeasant than say, sugar addictions, like chocolate or soda.

pleasure is taboo.
fundamentalists have great influence.
look at all the to-do whether Bill Clinton inhaled.
I went to a party once in the late 60s where a joint was being passed.
one of the women held the joint in her mouth and didn't inhale. What a dunce.

Ah, the scare tactic. But your point is well-taken. I'm glad foxgloves are illegal.

This is you trying to show me your dick, and I'm not impressed.
It's ok if you're against weed, just come out and say it, but don't dance around comparing foxglove to a plant that has never given anyone heart failure in the history of the universe. It's fricking stupid.

I once saw a fox wearing gloves while taking LSD and smoking pot.

I think the original challenge was "chemically" addictive suggesting some form of dependence caused by biochemical change. There is some evidence for this in long-term use, but not nearly to the level of something like alcohol or heroin. In fact, there is a recent article (unavailable to the general public yet) by the manufacturer of Sativex looking at its use as a means to control the negative effects of marijuana cessation. Sort of like using nicotine patches and gum to stop smoking. article link

there isn't, that's kind of my point.

Or incredibly bright for that matter. Foxglove is where digoxin is derived and used to remedy heart failure, not cause it. If you read through all of my posts I believe I said it should be legal, taxed, and regulated. I wonder how much long-term use affects reading comprehension?

On the same level as LSD is a joke.
We know its all for the money, we know there are medicinal benefits of the plant and oil whether you like it or not.
I will say this, given the choice of life or death, or pain and appetite control during treatments, you will take cannabis, period. Its not weed anymore, its a pill, its oil, its food.

Ok. You talk like you're clearly on the side of pro legalization and regulation. Yet you say things like you're not pro weed. Which side are you on?

Perhaps you should go read my previous posts as well. I never compared it to LSD or denied medical utility. I gave a logical and true explanation as to why things are done the way they are. THC is legal and given in oral form. Sativex has so far failed in clinical trials on an expedited review.

I don't partake. I don't care if you do. Period. If I were dying of cancer and wasting away slowly, I wouldn't turn down a prescription of dronabinol from my oncologist. I also realize that legalization will result in a multitude of unforeseen problems just as it seeks to correct others.

People have been taking cannabis for a long long time.

FYI the DEA is led by Obama appointees.
Doesn't matter. The politics of the DEA means they can never let it have a reduction in schedule status.

More like how to do DUI enforcement, age minimums, industry regulation etc
Just a bunch of stupid things that need to be resolved. Not widespread epidemic crisis type stuff

So, as long as you don't grow your own, & pay your federal gov't drug dealer, it will be okay when the science is there?....even though it there now with the wild plant?
Oh, & ecstasy was used by psychiatrists in the 70s to combat depression and resolve marital issues with high success rates. But it's a schedule 1 too b/c don't wanna get in way of those anti depressant profits. All about the $$ - they don't care if our quality of life
