Saw him at the Ryman in Nashville last year.

Better than expected. It was just awesome. Also, Hannibal Burris opened for him and KILLED it as well.

worst show ever, you will understand when you go. Advanced advice: dont expect him to do old bits and if you yell out something they are going to escort you out immediately via his request. The theater was half empty by the time the "show" ended

I saw him in 2004 in San Jose... right after he was making it big. Great performance.

"I can't go out into public... I can't take my kids to Disney Land or any shite like that... because my kids think there's a bunch of motherfrickers running around named Rick James and they daddy is a bitch"

eta: I've heard he's changed a lot though... He handled hecklers with surgical precision, now I hear that people just get thrown out

Hopefully the crowd will be a bit more tame now that he has been back for a while. I saw him in Houston a little over a year ago and it just wasn't good. It was mostly due to idiots in the crowd yelling at him and interrupting him, but most of it was him just talking about how he doesn't give a shite anymore and gets paid regardless.

Hannibal Burress was awesome that night, though.

Good. Nobody paid money to hear some moron yell "RICK JAMES". Let the man do his set and shut the hell up unless you are laughing.

And when have you seen a comedian do old bits years later? This isn't a classic rock band reunion tour.

i didnt want to see his old shite, but 100 people in there did and wouldnt shut up, they all got escorted out per Dave's request and it slowed the show up drastically. He should have handled it differently

I used to go see him at the comedy store in LA and he would go for HOURS, like so long we would leave in the middle even though he is the funniest person ever. Well worth seeing.
