Dating trends - What's your pattern?

I find that I choose a girl at the extreme other end of the spectrum from my last girlfriend.
Religious to non religious
Tiny, petite girls to tall girls with big tits and thick hips
Super waspy looking to super exotic looking
Etc....
I don't do this intentionally, but I assume there is a subliminal portion of me being cognizant of not signing up for the same problems I had before. Maybe repulsion associated with the ex leads to the drastic change in physical attributes.
On the other hand, I have some friends that stick right down the fairway with their "type".
What's the concensus here?

Don't go for any one type. If something falls into place I roll with it.

I look at her and say "WYHI?", if tell myself "yes"..I go for that.

I read this as "puts out" to "doesn't wanna have sex"
Those religious chicks are absolute fiends.

Meh. I've dated a lot on both sides. The overal amount of sex is about the same, but religious chicks are streaky. They will get in their heads about being sinful and then go cold on you, only to comeback with the vigor of a thousand harlots 5 days later.
I've also never met a non religious chick that didn't put out.

Long term relationships. I can't do the "date a few months" and end it thing. I can tell after a date or two if it's going to go somewhere.

Details and concentration.
After that megadrought, things got better.

Pretty much, but there are a few other things I consider as well. I avoid an excessive age difference, and I'm not going to waste my time on anyone who isn't a marriage prospect.

I prefer a credit score of 720+. Will sacrifice a few pounds for close to 800 and wealthy family.

You should never go into a relationship with the thought that it would only last a few months.
With that said, I hate dating a new girl every other week. There is a lot of investment of time, money, and effort on the front end and my favorite part of the relationship is the "cook at home and open a bottle of wine" time.
Once I have reeled in the girl, it's easy for me to get them to stay underneath the metaphorical porch and it's usually a difficulty trying to get them to pump the brakes on the path down to marriage.

I'm with you pelfan.
First two weeks are work, next few months are bliss, then you get to find out how annoying they really are.
