Why would he dump A when he's not certain about B? You be a friend and keep him straight in his lies and provide alibis when needed. The only problem is he'll have to buy them both gifts for Christmas and if you're a broke student, that might be a small problem.

Make it short and to the point, preferably in person. Either way the family will hate him for it, but they'll appreciate that he didn't have the audacity to mooch off the family for one last weekend.

Introduce your girlfriend to the new girl and see if they hit it off and also introduce your girlfriend to a single guy friend of yours and see if they have any chemistry. Then, if her and the new girl hit it off, ask the gf if she would be interested in a manage a tois. She will immediately be disgusted and walk out and go to your friend. He will comfort her and she rebounds relatively painlessly. She tells the new girl about this, and she is flattered and hooks up with you.
