Going to Dallas for the USMNT Gold Cup game. I am gathering info on restaurants, bars, attractions, etc. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thx.

JFK stuff is worth it - that's my only recommendation. Well, that and strip clubs.

Before you go familiarize yourself with the location of the parade route, the grassy knoll, the depository, bridge, etc.

Walk around the area a little bit and see if the official version makes any sense. Along with all of the other things we are now aware of, the logistics and shot selection/angles do not add up.

Patrizios in Highland Park. It's high society(Mark Cuban and Jerry's hood) with BRs Diguilio bros prices. Campesiss on Mockingbird. Blue Goose tex mex on Greenville.

Do Dealy Plaza without the expensive tour. Buy a pamphlet and short tour on the street.

Lone Star park for horses(cheap beer and fun betting atmosphere) . Texas Rangers for baseball. Six Flags for theme park.

what kind of things are you in to?

where in the Metroplex are you staying, Dallas proper or the burbs?

are you wanting to stay in a central location or are you cool with driving all over the place?

If you are dragging a female along, the Dallas Arboretum is supposed to be one of the best. But absolutely don't go unless you are trying to score points with a girlfriend or some female family member. I would have been pretty bored if not for my grandma enjoying it so much.

JFK is neat.
Dallas Museum of Art is free and pretty lame.

Pecan Lodge, Hard Eight or Lockhart Smokehouse for BBQ.

Angry Dog, Twisted Root or Hopdoddy's for burgers.

Perry's for best pork chop and Del Frisco's for best prime steak.

if the wait is too long as it often is, Uncle Uber's Sammich Shop right behind them is a nice consolation prize

I eat there a lot as its convenient. But it ain't nothing special. I would go to Angry Dog down the street for a burger....or twisted root.....or Braindead Brewing which has really good food.

The last moderately priced joint in Highland Park Village... now out of business. It'll probably be another Hermes store in 2 months.
