Tesla drivers have the highest accident rate. From Nov. 14, 2022, through Nov. 14, 2023, Tesla drivers had 23.54 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Ram (22.76) and Subaru (20.90) were the only other brands with more than 20.00 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Meanwhile, Pontiac (8.41), Mercury (8.96) and Saturn (9.13) were the only brands with fewer than 10.00 accidents per 1,000 drivers.

Because they are frigging hot rods. Probably the fastest 0-60 vehicle I’ve ever driven.

A lot of people buy them for performance, namely the ridiculous pickup. Most people can't handle that type of acceleration.

Drivers subconsciously connect tesla battery car to battery golf cart. Golf carts are pleasure vehicles to be driven like a madman. I slept in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

And they’re playing with the giant screen in the middle of the dash instead of watching where they’re going.

Probably because it's the fastest 0-60 cat ever produced. I'm more curious with what's up with Ram drivers?

The Subaru statistic is self explanatory.

I rode in one the other night and the display is nothing short of awesome. The cameras pick up cars and pedestrians on all sides and displays them on the driver's dash. Pretty cool but I imagine it is distracting.

I personally doubt it is b/c the power, albeit "instant on" is cool.

More likely, inattentive drivers relying solely on the autonomous modes.

It's probably that the majority of them are sold in cities and other congested areas, so they are around more traffic and the numbers are skewed.

Because you have to be an idiot to drive one. EV's are more expensive to operate than a vehicle with a combustion engine.

Check for "BIDEN/HARRIS 2020" stickers on their cars... that's your answer

Nah, the autopilot is probably a better driver than any human. If it the crash rate is related to the automation it's probably because people think they are in autopilot mode when they really aren't.

But I still think it's because of the acceleration.
