buzzfeed with pics

quote:

Immature comments included: ‘You are what is wrong with your country… I hope your kid gets beat up at school.’ And: ‘Seems a little gay to me.’

[quote]Well, going off of comments I have received both online, and in person regarding my wife and I’s decision to make our son a kitchen play set and several “daughter” comments and “but he is a boy”, let me be perfectly blunt.
quote:

frick you. Any time we go to our local science center, or to the children’s museum, he always wants to play in the kitchen playset area. He always wants to watch us cook and likes being involved, so we thought this would be a good idea.
quote:

Furthermore, if my kid wanted a barbie doll I would get it for him. If that is what he wants, then that is what he wants. Its his decision what he wants to play with. Not mine.

is it weird to build him this?

So many kids are getting into cooking at an early age IMO so I dont think its gay for him to have a kitchen playset like that. I mean if it was pink, then thats a different ballgame but its pretty badass and made out of a TV entertainment set

I wish I could cook. My BIL can cook like a demon. Why are they trolling this family?

Is this the one who built the set out of an old tv cabinet? If so dad did a heck of a job.

Plenty of us guys like to cook, I see nothing wrong with adding another skill to a mans bag of tricks. Plus, there is absolutely nothing wrong with supporting your kids interests.

People need to take a god damned break.

I don't English good.

People saying it's gay are gay and scared to come out of the closet.

Nothing wrong with that. Lots of boys pretend to cook and most of the best chefs are men.

The very best chefs in the world are men - and it can be very lucrative. Everyone has to eat. In the South, many men participate in the most important and celebratory meals.

I don't think that is weird at all for a boy to be interested in cooking. Hell, my 2 year old wants to stir the pot every time I am cooking something. He would probably love that kitchen thing. My goal is that he grows up loving to cook rather than eating processed crap I ate in college and shortly after college.

A dad took the time to build his kid something to play with. We should all be so lucky.

My wife, and every gf before her, loved the fact that I was a good cook.

I see no problem here unless the boy starts wearing dresses and talking like fat arse Rachel Rey.
I'd encourage his culinary interests. Kid might be the next Bobby Flay or just a successful chef. Hell he might turn out to be just a damned good cook, but I don't see what the big deal is here

The people attacking this guy are only interested in looking cool & edgy by being an a-hole on the internet. They really could not care less about that sort of toys this kid plays with.

This story doesn't say anything about "where we are as as country and raising our kids". All says is it's become cool & funny to be an a-hole to people you've never met and have done nothing to you. And I'd bet my last dollar that not a one of these internet trolls would have the balls to say anything to that dad's face.
