After trying to avoid a red light. Typical cyclist not obeying the laws of the road.

quote:

BATON ROUGE - Emergency crews responded to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Perkins Road near LSU’s campus while on her bicycle Tuesday afternoon.

According to BRPD Sgt. Don Coppola, the bicyclist was on Perkins Road and wanted to avoid stopping for a traffic light at Stanford Avenue. The bicyclist turned on to the sidewalk at Standford Avenue instead and then tried to cut across traffic.

BRPD was on the scene and the pedestrian was transported from the scene by EMS. This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.

Hopefully they write her a ticket and she gets stuck with the car's insurance bill

Motorists need to pay more attention and watch out for dumbasses.

When you're racing that clock, you don't have time to stop for lights. Gotta get that new PR.

Riding a bike amongst Louisiana drivers just seems idiotic

Eta: regardless of fault here

Roommate a LSU had a bicycle for awhile. I told him he was going to inevitably be hit. Not 2 weeks later I'm walking back to my vehicle in the CEBA lot and BAM! there he is, got creamed in the parking lot.

Why should the bicyclist not be responsible? I guarantee I'd be going after some repair money.

I thought about buying a road bike but quickly decided against it cause I just don't trust sharing the road with all the idiots driving now. I don't want to get taken out by a soccer mom driving a Tahoe while texting.

Hell I now just mainly ride bike paths and only cross busy streets with pedestrian crosswalks and I still constantly have to watch for assholes turning right on red that don't pay attention (almost got hit by some a-hole about an hour ago in that exact same situation).

Looks like it was a student or someone going to/from a job by looks of the bike in that link. Probably not the kind of cyclist we pick on here.

I know some folks who bike to their jobs around there. Prayers sent.

That was weird too. "Perkins Road near LSU's campus"?
