Just got a 3 year old buddy and I've tried the pedi claw with zero success. What are some ways to trim a dogs nails? Please post some pics as to what clippers you use and have been successful I've tried this, but he doesn't like the noise

Take them for walks, avoid clipping. Yikes.

I hate doing it.

I missed one time and it seemed like forever to stop the bleeding.

Yelping dog, hysterical crying wife, blood everywhere.

Horrible experience.

I just pay $5 to get it done once a month or so. Well worth not having to deal with the hassle and potentially fricking it up.

What does petsmart charge to clip nails? And should I do it once a month?

If you do get a bleeder, flour or baking powder will stop it fairly quickly.

You have to train a dog for nail trimming. The easiest way to actually trim is with nail clippers resting against the paw pads, not from the front. Get some clippers with an adjustable "stop" and it's easy. Have a 2nd person hold the dog and cut small amounts. Again, train with rewarding.

We have the Pedi Paws. I think it is for smoothing nails after they are cut. Also have a guillotine type clipper. Dog is 15 years old and has some selective mobility issues (never evident when walking to and through the park). Took me 2 days to clip 3 nails. Willing to pay well if someone would come to my house and do it.

ETA: she needs to be lifted with a sling to get her in the truck

I just bring my pug to Petsmart. $11 to grind his nails (lasts longer than just being clipped and he tolerates it better than regular nail clip)

And turn paw upside down to see underneath nail to know where to clip.

You just make a deal with your dog. You say, "Look, if you let me clip your nails, then you can clip mine."
