I think I've purchased my last off the rack then tailored suit. Nothing fits me like I want it to. I've come close with some nicer brands but I'd rather spend more and get something that truly fits.

Any recommendations on a custom suit establishment in Baton Rouge or New Orleans?

What kind of prices am I looking at?

Please no online retailer links where you measure yourself and a 12 year old Filipino makes your suit. I may do that down the road but I'd like to get at least one custom suit locally to get the full experience.

I buy suits from Perlis, but they're off the rack. The tailors are really good though and have made my suits fit me well.

Sorry if that doesn't help.

I've been to similar establishments and have been turned me away. I had to get a suit separate recently in a pinch and that serves its purpose but still leaves a lot to be desired, especially considering what I paid.

I'm a tough fit. Wide shoulders and small waist. Everywhere I go tells me to suck it up and get custom tailored.

Nice. Not too far from my office. How much did you pay?

They are locally owned and popular with the super tall and odd-shaped folks. I've never used them as I am a lady. Hopefully someone to chime in about costs.

Thanks, Rummy. I have a feeling that price may represent some purple plaid job they keep on display to be able to advertise those prices

Manuel Martinez is hands down the best in BR, but could hit George bass just a few doors down from Manuel, they have some nice stuff. Both are on corporate near town center Neither are cheap, but you get what you pay for. It's like shoes, spend the money you get what you pay for and they last

Martinez and George Bass are the only two people in Baton Rouge I trust to make a custom suit. If not going full custom Bass' "house label" suit is by Samuelsohn and is pretty damn great itself.

I have a Manuel Martinez suit and it was about $2k. He made a couple shirts as well. It can get a lot more expensive than that though. I love it but don't wear it much anymore. I've gotten to just wearing slacks and blazers most of the time. I like to buy them separate and buy quite a bit from Frank McLavy. He orders for me and has a very good tailor on staff.

But by all means do get a custom suit. It's a great feeling and as stated above a good investment-provided you stay the same size. Frankly mine is a bit snug at the moment.

I'm the same with shoes. I have several Allen Edmonds and a couple of Italian Cables and probably won't have to buy another pair in my lifetime-although I'm sure I will just because I like to on occasion.

I have about 20 pairs of slacks and 10 different blazers so I can mix and match for a long time. My weakness is ties. I buy too many and spend too much on them.
