When I was growing up, I used to watch the 5 o'clock news with my parents. When my kids were growing up, they did the same thing. Today, I feel like the 24-hour news cycle has made this crap unwatchable.

So, my question is for my grandkids (ages 5-12): can anyone recommend any age-appropriate current events sources for them to watch daily? I feel like kids growing up now don't have much exposure to any of this. I was hoping there was a good youtube channel or something like that. TIA.

Definitely not the world news on abc, fox, cbs, etc. It's not even news now, it's propaganda for whoever pays the network the most $$$

is it really different?

I'm 36, grew up in Louisiana, I don't see it as being much different than before.

- 2 people were shot dead last night
- Politics rabble rabble rabble
- Hot, partly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers

News is exactly the same you just know better now.

You could probably do a little research and set up a Twitter feed for them? Or subscribe to some different sub reddits and have your front page be an age appropriate mixture of stuff they are into and some current events
