Recently, I bought an engagement ring and the store was offering a promo- spend 5k on an engagement ring in June, get a free 3 night,4 day cruise for 2.

It has to be through Carnival, Norwegian Cruise Lines, or Royal Carribean.

Has to leave from Miami or L.A.

Any upgrade desired (room upgrades, alcohol package, longer cruise, etc) can be done and paid for out of pocket by myself.

I'm definitely open to paying more for a longer cruise and drink package- not really sure a nicer room is worth it being as we won't be in it much?

Never been on a cruise so don't know much about any of the cruise lines or types of cruises.

Advice or reccomendations?

These are the ones that are actually trashy.

ETA: Do Royal Caribbean for the least trash.

Top Gun and Mission Impossible are both good. He gave a good performance in A Few Good Men too.

What about 5-7 nights from these lines?

I've only done 7 and always had a good time. Due to my work, I have to see the people that take the shorter cruises on a regular basis though, so that (and stories from people I know) is what I base the trashiness of the shorter cruises on.

I'd go for the upgrade to a 7 day Eastern Caribbean out of Miami with Norwegian.

This one caught my attention. They had a few excursions you could buy for some temple and ruin tours which interests me.

You may be looking at the Western Caribbean, which is still a fun one, more stops on the trip, but also more expensive.

You could probably upgrade to a way nicer room on the Eastern for what you would pay for the basic stateroom on the Western.

Eastern Caribbean

I didn't like Cocktail or any of his Scientology-heavy movies. Risky Business still a classic. He got real crazy on Oprah once.

Royal Caribbean out of Miami will limit you to either something in the Voyager or Vision class. The Navigator of the Seas is a fun ship with alot to do for younger couples.

Check it out here

if you want a longer cruise I would recommend an eastern caribbean cruise out of Miami on Royal and definitely add the drink package. The Premium package seemed to be the best value for us but we don't drink premium coffees.

Dude. Cruises are nothing more than floating Hotels where, if you leave, you die.

If I wanted an experience like that, I'd just go stay in New Orleans.

Of those options go with Royal Caribbean.

In all seriousness... Longer cruise is probably worth the cost. With a 3 day, you're basically on the water for 2 solid days, with like 8 hours on an island somewhere, so hardly worth it. Unless you're just looking to be on a boat, in which case, go for it.

I can't speak to the room upgrade, never done it, but I think you're right, I can't imagine it's worth the cost. But, would be baller AF to get the suite. The "normal" cruise ship rooms are freaking tiny.

Drink package... Assuming you're a drinker, absolutely. You'll go broke buying drinks for a week.

Thank god you're here. Can you lay out an itinerary of exactly how you would plan a vacation and what you would do?

I'd hate to do something that you wouldn't want to do :/

I would spend a little extra and do a 5-7 out of Miami. Ports I like best are Grand Cayman and Isla Roatan, see if anything leaving out of Miami visits them. Also, go when school is in, the lesser amount of kids the better.
