Right

But you don't make money on Phase I work

You make money on Phase II. And for a Phase I to go to Phase II, its almost always an O&G property

Fin, you think I will be able to come to LA and buy a nice, slightly-used center console for pennies on the dollar soon?

Last year was the best year our company has ever had, by far.

It was a really good one for us as well. There will be big annual bonuses handed out for sure. And if it stays this low for a while some of the people getting big bonuses will also be let go around the same time.

We also held back some invoices from Dec to Jan because our month/year was so good.

but I hope you are saving for the cycles. If you aren't, I can't have much sympathy.

I've been laughing at the people on Fbook who are preaching about people need to stop being happy about low gas prices because their husband is going to get laid off. Catch is these people are usually in there 20's and drive 100k worth of vehicles and live in a 3000 sq ft home and have one income.

Funny, I seem to remember oil being very low during the prosperous 90s

Oil was $12 a barrel back in 97/98 and we survived.

I just want to point out that when I started talking about this happening back in October I was called out by several people but this was by far the best.

Drop in gas prices has nothing to do with oil field jobs, they do not quit drilling based on gas prices. Prices are low because there are alot of oil and gas jobs

Jack Daniel

Sadly he went on to say he also works in the O&G industry and knows more than me.

ETA: Another time people here laughed when I said this would/could happen

Should be some good deals on used lifted trucks soon.

I really believe this could be a significant downturn for the next 2 years and I'm really glad I've been saving because a rainy day could be upon us.

An analyst we use predicted this downturn a year ago. Last January he told us $50 oil in December.

He is now saying $90+ by July. Take that for what its worth. I'm hoping he is right again.

I remember after Hurricane Rita and Katrina how many F250s and dump trailers could be had for cheap. All of the overnight contractors though that work would last forever and bought all new equipment.

no way this downturn last 2 years. 9 months tops. Price of oil will start creeping back up by the end of March.
