Anyone have one or use to have one? What kind?
What kinda gear did you have?
What kind of tricks could you do?
Any good stories you have? Wrecks or being pulled over etc?

I was a big rider in the early/mid 2000's and was reminiscing this morning about the good old days

I thought you were talking about some kind of vibrator until I got to the "wrecks" part.

Rode a Kawasaki GPZ-1100 for several years.

Had leather jacket, helmet, boots, gloves, etc.

Only trick I could do was just stay up on it.

Never been pulled over, only one near wreck - passing a guy on a FM road in Texas, he decided to turn left just as I got along side of him. Scared the shite out of me.

Had an '04 R1. Lightest weight manufactured that year. Didn't act too much of a bozo with it. Had a few minor run ins. The worst I did was make it from Laffy to BR in about 25 minutes one late night. Nothing like cruising on the Basin Bridge doing 150.

Sold my 2008 R6 shortly after finding out my wife was pregnant earlier this year. I'll get another bike one day, but the advent of texting and driving definitely made it a lot more unsafe.

A guy passed we doing a wheelie on Lake Martin Road. He wore a wifebeater and cutoffs with flip flops.

I started with a 99 suzuki TLr, the v-twin. Traded it in on a brand new 2004 zx10 a couple years later. I believe the first or second year Kawasaki graduated up to the 1000cc rocket.

Only tricks I ever did on either bike was power wheelies. The TLR was easy b/c v twin had that low end torque. The zx10 was just full of horse power. Only wreck was pulling out of a carwash on to the highway too fast in front of traffic and fish tailed and went down with a slick back tire. I never was big in to long or hard fast rides. I got in for the relaxation of riding a bike and appreciated the occasional rocket like take off. Sold the zx10 after a girlfriend's ex husband had a bad wreck and she begged me to get out of it. I do think about getting back in and if I do I may get a busa.

Gawd I detest the term "crotch rocket."
That being said, I've had Ninja 600, Katana 600, FJ1200, Ducati Paso, Ducati 900ss, Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport, Triumph Daytona 955, Ducati ST4, Moro Guzzi V7 Sport, and a Suzuki TL1000S. Lots of dirtbikes along the way.
At a minimum: helmet, boots, gloves, and jacket with armor.
Having broken both of my feet, right one twice, the importance of strong boots its critical.

I had an SV650 and a GSXR750

All kinds of gear. Joe rocket Jacket, Shoe RF1100 Helmet, Alpine Star Boots, Joe Rocket gloves. Dianese full leathers. I also wore riding jeans and kneepads when I was learning and then later when I was riding aggressively.

Tricks? Never bothered to learn that crap. I rode track days and backroads, so I was more focused on technique. I could drag knee if you want to call that a "trick"

Never put it down and never pulled over. I did some really stupid crap like split lanes between vehicles on the interstate and 140+ on backroads.

Got out of riding after one of our family members was paralyzed in a bicycle accident. Quadriplegic, bad shite. Seeing everything he went through scared the crap out of me and I didn't want to put myself or my family through that. I have plenty of confidence in myself not to wreck, but in Lafayette it is essentially Russian roulette with the other idiots on the road so I figured my luck was going to run out eventually. Best to walk away while I can still walk.

Never had a crotch rocket, I have had sportbikes.

Mainly 600s, yam/zuk/duc/hondas. My 07 600rr was my favorite. I was always full cow power ranger style. I learned to ride in the mountains of East Tennessee and West NC, so I'm a twisty searcher. I hate straight line queens.

Was never a stunt rider, but I could wheelie if I wanted to show off for a kid. Have tons of crazy arse stories from being a local to Deals Gap for a long time. Everything from cops to running plastic kids big wheels at 40mph down the mountain.

I ride mainly ADV bikes now. Wanted more comfortable riding, but still love the twisties. Have a GS and a WR250X. Thinking about getting a triumph scrambler.

1. Don't ever call a sport bike or supersport bike a "crotch rocket".

2. I stopped riding on the street in 2005 and have been racing with WERA on and off since.

Used to ride a few years back. Started with a little street riding until I acted like a dumbass one day and gave myself a self-imposed lifetime ban on street riding. Learned that the real fun happens on the track. Once you've been on the track, street riding becomes pretty pointless. Always rode with full gear on the street. The only difference between my track gear and street gear was padded denim riding pants instead of leather pants on the street. Every time I see a spode riding in shorts and flip flops, I practically beg the asphalt to teach him a valuable lesson that may save his life in the future.
