You either have to stare at the chip reader like a zombie or the clerk has to remind you like a child to remove your card.

Once you use it a couple of times it becomes old hat.

If you can't get it by now......................

Most places have a little sign on the scanner that says whether or not their chip reader is operational.

I thought it would be an issue for me, but it really hasn't been a problem...I just never let go of the card.

Every one that I've used beeps when you need to remove your card

The part that aggravates me is that some make you sign and some don't so you never know what to expect.

Then you have the readers that have an annoying aggresive beep that makes it seems like the damn machine is doing you a favor.

It also takes much longer to check out. Hated long lines at check out? Chip readers make it much worse. And those chip readers seem to mess up regularly. I hate them.

If you can't use a chip reader correctly consider the fact that you made it out of bed alive a win a move on with your day.

If using your card is difficult for you, please refrain from driving an automobile

I read where the software companies have committed to cutting the chip processing time to under 3 seconds.

Walgreens has the entire transaction done in that time period.

Process time still won't address the zombie / child / beep situation.

Does that 10 second wait protect your credit card information?

I hate everyone you know, too.
