Meh, in theory it should be safer compared to what used to exist. At least now with the center turn lane, you only needed to make it across 2 lanes of traffic to make a left instead of at least 3. I much prefer it to the old setup, but alas, I'm a good driver.

i could get behind the initial changes, but that move is very hard to defend. not sure what's going on now.

I think that this stunbornness causes a lot of traffic issues. Not saying that you're causing issues since you don't travel at rush hour, but a lot of people thinking this way causes a ton of issues.
This. I was pissed when they made the change, but when it went into effect I simply modified my route. I pretty much avoid that intersection like the plague now, because I have seen so near-misses. It might have made a 5 minute change in my schedule. Nbd.

I am so glad I don't live on or near campus anymore.

I have about 4 routes I can take home from work, and Burbank used to be on that list. I simply avoid it now, which is pretty easy to do using Nicholson or River Road.

I also would be pissed if I lived at that complex right past Lee on Burbank, they always had wrecks trying to come out there and head towards campus. Looks like they stopped letting those kids take a left turn for the time being. Such a mess.

If you take a second to think about it, that helps speed up everyone getting through there. Instead of waiting several light cycles for one person to finally make a left across Burbank, they all turn right, and those that need to make a u turn can. It's incredibly more efficient, but people that can't grasp that complain.

I tried river road once and it was extremely long. I luckily don't have to go through campus though.
I live on brightside and work on siegan, so I just follows siegan/Burbank all the way to lee.. Take a left there.. And my only traffic is waiting a couple light cycles to go over the railroad tracks onto brightside.

But River Road would definitely be a road I take if it kept me away from the campus area clusterfrick

I think you are referring to E Boyd here?

I just avoid the area because I like my car and don't want anyone to F it up.

I would be pissed about the place off of Burbank near Lee because of how long it takes to exit that complex. I stopped taking that way TO work so I don't know if they made any more changes since a few months back.

That is not a bad route to take.

RR coming from Bluebonnet to Brightside is way too curvey, takes you for a long ride!

It is more efficient, but it still sucks for the few people who have to sacrifice their routes for the good of the many. I think that's all she was saying.

I was referencing the Cottages, which is what I assumed you were talking about as the apartments past Lee on Burbank.

If we're thinking of the same place, not allowing the left actually makes it much faster to exit.

Are you really sacrificing anything if your commute is safer and faster?

Yes, Cottages. I didn't think they had a light right there so that statement threw me off.

Yeah I've seen they take the right then just U turn a few yards down now. Seems more efficient, I agree. But once that new complex open, that will throw more wrenches in the mix.

Mainly in the mornings, everyone trying to get to class or work. Will continue to avoid the area!

My commute has gotten longer because instead of taking a left I now have to travel in a more roundabout fashion to get there.

As far as safer, you would have a point, except no "right turn only" signs make that intersection extremely dangerous for all cars passing through.

ETA I am referring to E Boyd and burbank

a roundabout there would do wonders.

People around here cannot use a roundabout efficiently, much less if it was a two lane roundabout.

Yea, we're talking about two different intersections now

Your commute has definitely been affected by the change, but you should be in the extreme minority... in theory.

Yeah, and I know I am. That's why when it happened, I grumbled about it but then moved on.

Now it has become dangerous, plain and simple. I wonder how many wrecks will have to happen for them to make another change.

Hopefully nobody gets killed before they wake up.

This is not about turning left onto boyd from burbank. The hazard comes from people taking lefts onto burbank from boyd or going straight across burbank. There is no turning lane on boyd. You do realize that, right?

Wouldn't it have been much easier to just add a left turn arrow to the existing signal?
