I realize the general consensus around here is that cox sucks, but my internet has been particularly shitty these past few days, yet the modem is working normal and shows all the usual lights etc.

Anyone else have this issue? Is someone just stealing my wifi and I don't know it?

ETA: Live in the Goodwood area.

I live in Tara, and my internet was acting up last night. You might want to post where you live as internet outages are typically localized.

I thought my GF was the only one. Her internet has been acting up for a while. Bought a new modem and router and last night it went beserk. Lights worked but no connection on any devices until I turned it off and on again.

My Internet has been inconsistent and was offline for hours yesterday. They had a message saying because of the thunderstorms from Tuesday we are experiencing outages.

That is a load of BS for most of us. Don`t blame a storm on your shitty service. I had issues before the storm on Monday, and have them more frequently now than I have had in the last few years.

I thought our router was acting up. Very slow over the past week or two in Walker.

If the modem is working normal, then it is probably your wireless router. That wouldn't be anything related to cox. You might just need a new router.

This was awhile back in my area (6-8 months ago), but everyone in the area was having trouble with the internet. One day it would work for a little while then cut out, the next day it would just be slow.. Then maybe go a week or two with no problem then all of a sudden there would be some type of problem.

This went on for about 3 months.. I would call Cox to see if it was out and I would always get a "we are aware of the internet outage in your area. Our technicians are currently working to restore internet service as soon as possible". Then finally, there were several days in a row in which 6 or 7 Cox vans were in the area working on the lines and after that we haven't had any more problems.

What about the weather earlier this week? Any chance that could have created a problem somewhere?

Try calling them and see if they will reset the modem. Sometimes that is all it takes. Have you tried unplugging and then plugging it back in?

I had this happen about a year ago and after the usual steps didn't work they sent out a guy and he had to replace some wires that he said were just getting old, probably from being in the sun all the time. Replaced them and all has been good since.
