New evidence shows that SARS-CoV-2 spreads explosively in American white-tailed deer, suggesting the animals could carry the virus indefinitely and spread it back to humans periodically.

The data is "very concerning," one scientist said.

Sigh.
No one cares.
It's all a farce.

Why don't the deer mask and social distance? Have they been tricked the Fox? Or Joe Doe-gan? Are they white tail supremacists?

I'd say the OB should be worried, but none of those hacks can hit the broad side of a barn.

quote:

If that's the case, it would essentially dash any hopes of eliminating or eradicating the virus in the U.S. — and therefore in the world

I really can't beleive this was a quote from a scientist in the article. Even more frustrated that NPR printed it.

We had COVID mapped enough in April of 2020 to know that it would not be eradicated, it would eventually be endemic, the question was time line and pathway from A to B.

Well, that just reinforces my theory that this virus was designed specifically to target white baws. We really are the most despised people in the world.

I'm more concerned about CWD. The whole prions thing never going away terrifies me. Personally I think eventually it leads to the zombie apocalypse.

And this is how they come for the guns. Cannot go hunting, due to the risk of CoVID spread.

Whitetail deer, of all damn things. I mean, is this an NPR newsworthy story?

Let's just cut to the chase: they're setting up the narrative that white guys are out there slaughtering the poor deer and feasting on their loins, thereafter keeping the virus circulating without regard for their fellow man. Friggin whites.

It is newsworthy... The concern is mutation and spread amongst livestock. That would make things worse if our cows and pigs are getting sick and not fattening up for slaughter... Further creating supply issues. I'm not really that concerned but it is something that is worth noting. Our taxes pay for wildlife research so it is nice to know people are researching stuff that could potentially create problems with the deer herd or other livestock.

The feelings you take from the story are yours. If you are scared that is your problem. Information is a good thing. Sorry you like to be ignorant.

Whitetail deer. Lol

Hopefully they've researched every other animal that may come into contact with humans to reassure us that they're on it. When it comes down to whether we need to be crystal clear and reassured about even just whether we can have any confidence whatsoever as to whether the vaccines protect against spread -or- the potential worldwide implications of contacting whitetail deer - the deer trump all. But ne aware, there are a whole bunch of animals left to go.
