I would welcome it with open arms. It sucks always having to have a phone with me.

If I knew I didn't have any obligations, I would LOVE to do this.

As long as others went without it too, then yes.

I regularly go a week without using mine to do anything other than call or text. About the only thing else I do on it is Uber. Now taking away my laptop and tablet would be more challenging.

Of course, but my morning Constitutional would be far less entertaining and/or informative.

I had to do it once and it was great.

I was able to get texts on my MacBook Pro so I wasn't that out of touch, but still pretty disconnected.

Of course. It's very therapeutic.

ETA: I assume most of us on here are adults. The better question would can anyone under the age of 18 do it. I honestly think it would be traumatic to most kids.

Walked into Gulf of Mexico with my iPhone in my pocket last summer (after drinking an indeterminate amount of Rum) and went phone less for the entire week.

Did not have a problem. I can also report that the saltwater did not result in any irritation to or inflammation of vaginitis as I am a dude and phones aren't something my life revolves around.

Peej, I didn't get your post. What are you breaking people's fingers for?

As for the op, yes. My MacBook does everything my phone does, even text

One of the things I enjoy most about travelling in foreign countries is that it gives me an excuse not to respond to a smartphone all the damn time.

I'm not anti-technology. However, I desperately need the freedom be alone with my thoughts, explore new places, and meet new people every now and then.

I could go without a phone or most any electronic device. Have to have books though. I regularly forget my phone at home and am without it.

My smartphone was either dysfunctional or in a repair center for a period of about two weeks earlier this year. I reactivated a regular old cell phone with just texting and no real browser and was fine.

I missed out on some group message stuff with friends, but only really felt debilitated with not getting work emails... wasn't complaining about that too much though.
