Could all 7 billion people be moved to the Moon bases to avoid the asteroid?

If not all 7 billion people, then how many and how do you choose? A lottery?

We won't be needing Nickelback. So that's 4 people we can leave behind.

I can think of about “81 million” more.

Let me check with my pilot and I’ll get back to you.

Seriously though, do you know how much fuel it takes to get 4 people and some science experiments up there? We don’t have enough fossil fuels on earth to generate enough propellant to get half of that number to the moon.

Plus it doesn’t matter, it’s going to take way to long to reach escape velocity on battery power.

No. Not enough rockets. Not enough fuel. Not enough time.

A thousand flights a day with 100 people on each would take 192 years.

Not to mention, 200 lbs of resources would be worth more to new moon people than a random person.

Any Earth evacuation will be limited to those picked as essential, and those rich enough to be deemed essential… because their money still matters to the 7 billion people left behind on Earth. It’s scary.

You better have the next destination planned ahead of time.

lets start but all liberals go first, then just blow the space ship up half way there and blame it on climate change

The aliens already have bases on it. Why can't we do it too?

That may be the last thing you ever take in the face, but it will be far from the first

With about 70 years of planning and construction, sure. But 7 billion probably isn't doable.
