The list is much to long to even begin. Start here:
https://www.bestofneworleans.com/gambit/gambits-top-50-bars-2010-new-orleans/Content?oid=1279446
And my hang out isn't on the list - Monkey Hill on Magazine.
Enjoy

You could easily do beer across the city walking just on Magazine st.

Start at rendezvous. Then bulldog. Baru for small plates and specialty cocktails, the iconic ms maes for a 1.50 PBR, le bon temps Bloody Mary, monkey hill, st joes. Enjoy

If you go to Bacchanal, also hit up BJ's and Vaughan's. Both are within an easy walk of Bacchanal. BJ's has music every Mon night and usually on Fri. Vaughan's has music every Thurs. Bacchanal has live music daily (and great food).

I finally made it to vaughan's this weekend. Chilled with the owners for a little bit. Very friendly place. I need to go back on a Thursday, I'm pissed that I missed out on the Kermit era there.

Bacchanal looks like it would be my kind of place, and the wife as well. But the Bywater is completely foreign to me, having never ventured beyond uptown, fq, and marigny. Best to take a cab from our usual hotels, I'm guessing.

What's the age group of patrons there?

Bywater is a lot friendlier and more organic than Marigny, imo. It's a very eclectic crowd at Bacchanal, anywhere from 20 somethings to older folks. There will be hipsters, no doubt, but it's always a mixed crowd and I mean that in the best possible way.
