Turn off the lights you tool. If you don't I'm going to report you.

Yeah, just driving down the road with them on smacks of ignorance.

He's a construction worker, just leave him to his empty life.
Agreed.

Whoever said surveyors are not considered a construction site? That's the first step in a street project pretty much every time. When I said NO, I meant there were no surveyors or anyone remotely involved in a project around. Nothing, no cones, tape, equipment, potholes, nada. Ive seen these assholes many times (perhaps yourself) use their flashing lights to get through traffic or just attempt to look official. (this intended for construction boy, not you Rickety).

It's a requirement by the dept of transportation to have them equipped on your vehicle if your truck is used for road construction. It IS for everyone's safety that your pea brain notices his vehicle for that person may stop and go more than normal.

This. Our DOTD field crew must have their flasher on when collecting inventory. This is to provide a warning that there may be a stop and go situation.

I have also passed many places along the road with construction signs up but not 1 piece if equipment and seen tickets being issued for exceeding the work zone speed limit.

DOTD specifically spells out speed drop zones on state road projects. See Speed Limit notes on the attached pdf link.

Temporary Traffic Control

If project being done under EBR DPW Field Engineering, they allow the speed drops for the entire project where DOTD does not allow. Cops love construction zones for this reason. Dealt with some construction workers in the field that would tell me that cops would as them to hurry up and put up their reduced speed signs for work that day so they can give out tickets.

Not mad.

A service vehicle shall not display the lighted lamp authorized under paragraph (a) when traveling upon the highway or at any other time except at the scene of a disabled vehicle or while engaged in snow removal or road maintenance.

Well I did have a truck one evening riding my arse coming out of New Orleans about a month after Katrina with flashing strobes and a yellow light on top laying on his horn while I was doing 90 in the left lane. And really I was going with the flow and had no where to go for a couple miles before I could get over.

When I did he passed me and gave me the finger. While giving me that lovely greeting he failed to notice the solid oak dining room table that apparently had fallen off a truck and was dead center in the left lane. Well needless to say he fricked his truck up bad and I had a good laugh. The side of his truck said New Mexico Animal Control. Guess he had a sick cat.
