Concert ticket purchasing strategies ....

Tickets on sale for Tool tomorrow. I do not go to a whole lot of concerts, but know that this one will sell out fast.
Would you try to purchase online? or go to venue?
Does the venue get "blocks" that you can't get online?
Trying to figure out how the concert ticket gods work.
Thoughts?

Is it through ticketmaster? They started marking up the really good seats. Called platinum seating I think. I picked up great seats for maroon 5 this way but paid $650 each

AMEX cardholders usually get to order a day in advance unless that has changed. I haven't missed a Tool show here in a long time. I'm not jumping in now. Once I know my plans, I might try craigslist or the ticket exchange.

Regular seats were comparable but I'm on the 2nd row I think

before time of sale try to buy tickets to another show that way you get past the robot shite and get verified. works for me. also do it from the mobile app.
