Partly. Betamax tapes were also roughly one hour long to be able to better preserve picture and sound quality. Vhs tapes came in at 2 hours, thus more movies easily fit onto a single tape. The video rental market took off and Betamax died out.

Crazy. My dad made TV commercials, and at least into the late 90's, almost everything you saw on TV was Betamax.

No, unfortunately those I knew with the coke no longer have the best of anything. Unless you count the federal pen as the best type of prison to stay in.

All of those Denham Springs folks think they have the best "Family Living" in the BR area. Maybe even the state.

My wife really does make the best potato salad. And yes, there is crunchy shite in it. It's fricking delicious.

Folks from many areas of this country think they have the best barbecue.

After living in Dallas for 27 years, I'm partial to the slowly cooked brisket, ribs, sausage, etc. that doesn't need to be smothered in sauce.

It was actually BetacamSP a 1/2 commercial format developed in the 1990s to replace the commercial 3/4" Sony U-matic format used in television production since the early 1970s. It was not the same as the earlier consumer Betamax format.
