That is the exact problem with these kids. The idea of self-reliance has never been introduced to them. Talk to an older person (and by older I mean in their 30s and beyond) about the way their lives ended up versus what they wanted. They will trace the things that went wrong back to a poor choice on their part or perhaps a rough circumstance that they had to overcome. Talk to a younger person, and they will point the finger at an older generation, their parents, the government, pretty much anybody but themselves.
We live in a child centric society. Which is fine. Kids are great. But we have forgotten that childhood isn't supposed to be just a magical time full of bounce houses and pony rides. It's supposed to be the years where we train children to become adults. People are so afraid of lessening the childhood experience that they forget the responsibility of raising functioning adults and productive members of society. And by doing so, they lessen the adult experience dramatically. And adulthood lasts a lot longer than childhood.

But to blame people who provide you with access to capital you wouldn't otherwise have and charging you for it is such a pussy move
Is it? Government back mortgage loans have been at all time lows while government backed student loans are at all time high.

You sound bitter. Maybe some self-reflection is in order.

Sorry tuition isn't $500 a class like it was in the "good days".... frick the a-holes that doubled the interest rate on student loans.
Sounds like you're bitching about the price of your degree. And I agree with you, they are fleecing you know-it-alls.
Only if you were smart enough to get a scholarship.

The truth always tastes bitter to those who don't want to hear it.

This is the decline of white America.

All you guys know how to do is to drop zingers on the internet like "You sound bitter." Like it really means something. I expressed and opinion and gave examples as to why I feel the way I do. I'm not bitter at all. I'm sad for you. I'm sad that you don't have the tools to succeed in life and you can do nothing more than blame people for your mistakes and name call strangers on a message board. That's a sad state of affairs IMO.
As far as bitter goes, go back and read ryder's frick everyone post on page one.

I'm an "older" cat, pushing thirty-five these days. I was reared in the cut-throat backdrop of youth sports trophies representing titles -- in a white trash town that offered such limited economic prospects that anyone with a brain recognized it by age fourteen.
I financed a mediocre education and was able to work to fund my illicit behavior. I was debt free by 28.
Times have changed. The cost of an undergraduate degree is essentially saddling youth with a thirty-year mortgage just to get a knowledge-based job in what is now a largely white collar economy. We live in a world built for women, yet some don't want to understand how and why this has driven behavior to change so rapidly.
Lastly, if you ever say SJW, you are fgt scum.

Oh, I have opinions about the state of higher education as well. But, it doesn't have much to do with the extreme apathy of the current youth. Except they are the least prepared to handle the most debt.

This thread is full of gen Xers who think way too highly of themselves and their upbringing.

What in the world wide frick? You extrapolated all that from, "You sound bitter?" I'm not even in college and more than pleased with my "sad unsuccessful" life.
A sad state of affairs is when people make generalizations about an entire generation or group of people based off of anecdotal evidence.
