The two really should be tied together because that's the underlying issue imo. It's just that if you are black there can be a preconception by the police that you are poor and/or a criminal until proven otherwise. Being white doesn't lend to the same preconception.

Agreed that as Americans we have more in common than not. And those commonalities are often ignored to instead highlight differences. However for the topic at hand being of African descent is the common issue when dealing with the police and justice system.

Wealth is the only issue. The only color that matters is green. Poor people of any color are worse off bc they cannot afford the best lawyers and public defenders are usually poorly funded and often overwhelmed by caseload. In most major cities, there are plenty of black leaders: cops, mayors, prosecutors, judges. In Oakland where CK is holding his seminar, the current mayor is a white female liberal, her predecessor was an Asian female, and her predecessor was a black man. All that matters is who has the money.

Those are all good, positive things.

I'm currently in DC. My gf just ran the Marine Corps Marathon. Tens of thousands of people, of all colors and ethnitices, participated in this marathon (top 5 largest in the U.S.), with tens of thousands more cheering on the sideline.
This was my first time to DC and I must say it was much more inspiring than I anticipated. The National pride you feel when touring this city is unmatched IMO.
One of the most emotional parts of our trip was at the WWII Memorial in the National Mall. There were about a dozen WWII Vets in wheelchairs sitting in the middle of the memorial. There were rows and rows of people standing in line waiting to shake these mens hands and thank them. People of all colors. Surrounded by American flags.
It was very emotional. My gf and I both teared up.
During the marathon there is what's called the "blue mile", where pictures of soldiers that were KIA are lined along the race course on both sides. Thousands of young men and women. My gf cried the whole time she ran throuugh.
Kaepernick may or may not have a legitimate cause he is championing, and that will continue to be up for debate, but what is not up for debate is that he is going about it in the wrong way. He is disrespecting people in this nation that sacrificed much more than he could ever imagine in order to allow him to live his current lavish life.
