Plenty of jobs at the grow houses.

They aren't great paying jobs either. I know people that would trim in Colorado for $20/hour under the table. Now that it's legal, it's $11/hour and taxes are taken out. And trimming is a lot of hard, tedious work. The Hispanics are safe.

I'll add, the economy is booming. And, alcohol sales have actually gone down.
Sadly, Colorado is a top 2 or 3 educated state, and top 5 in almost everything good in life. Louisiana is bottom 5 in almost everything important. The pols in Louisiana want to jail kids with a little pot.

Taxes are much lower for medical users. That may account for the discrepancy?

Please for the love of God just legalize the fricking plant.
It's a plant that is:
Better than alcohol for recreation
Better than many fibers for clothes
Better than wood for building
Better than most for rope
Better than prison for the economy
Medical benefits for glaucoma, cancer, aids, etc...
And yet it is illegal for seemingly no reason at all other than a brilliantly organized and orchestrated smear campaign and lobbying efforts.

In general i support legalization but not on the grounds of giving the government more money
Yeah! To hell with giving public education more money!

^^^^^^^^^^This guy gets it, I am born & raised in LA but its a fricking trap. The first thing they do to the budget is cut health care & education. It's a cycle. Just look at the generations of poorly educated sick people in LA that are stuck in the trap, add a little jail time to that for some weed & boom now you can't get a real job bc of the good ol boys done stuck you in the spin cycle, now dependant on government welfare to feed themselves. To boot, probably still smokes weed. Legalize for frick sake.

That's the craziest part. People are still smoking pot, just forced to buy nasty brick weed. Bugs, caterpillars and all. The cop lobby is so corrupted serving their own interests instead of the citizens. Crazy when you thing about it.

Maybe enough old people will die in Louisiana to get recreational legalized by 2040. Not holding my breath though, as long as the Louisiana state legislature is still a functioning body.
2040 is a good estimate. We can't even play daily fantasy football because the casino's and bible-thumpers don't want us to have fun.

You can buy cheap weed everywhere. You can also buy weed that is still in the packaging from the dispensary. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy cheap reefer, the good stuff is in every city in the US.

just think how much it could be if they were allowed to use banks and credit cards. the all cash requirements really hurts growth.

I've been places you can use a card, but I believe debit only. It will take time but that aspect of it will get to where it needs to be eventually

The potential is five times what it is now, maybe ten. The restrictions are mind boggling. The secondary markets are also holding back getting involved.
Recently I had an AC/heating man over to fix a problem. I asked him if they were getting work installing grow rooms. He said they were avoiding those jobs until the feds made a decision. Its perfectly legal to grow according to Colorado law, but it could still be a federal issue. So they wait. All sorts of secondary and tertiary business are waiting to explode.

Oreilly was melting down over legal weed last night.

I know that. Just seems like a high number for such a small town
Posted on 12/13/16 at 12:45 pm to BCMCubs
You're right. I've never seen more than 2 or 3 in any mountain town. Why so many in Durango?
