A thus-far-unexplained problem that allowed the nightclub activity to persist as long as it did was that the business was issued a permit allowing live entertainment, even though the zoning specifically prohibits that, McNamara said.

“They were inadvertently given – we’re still trying to figure out how – a live entertainment permit for that location,” McNamara said. “By law, by statute, by ordinance, they are not allowed to have live entertainment.”

I wonder whose back pockets were greased the most for that illegal live entertainment permit?

An inspection of the premises turned up little food,.... Investigators found “a couple of boxes of French fries and a couple of boxes of chicken nuggets,” as well as eight eggs, he said.

Great police work, guys.

If you are suggesting there is corruption in new orleans politics I am flabergasted. Shame on you

This spot really needs a celebrity chef or hot name to take it over. Its a beautiful space with a great courtyard, but everything seems to fail there. Years ago it was a pizza place that was doing really well, until the owners of the space got really greedy and jacked up the rent to drastic levels so they could put their own shitty thing in there, that failed.

The business, which was operating with a conditional permit use for a restaurant, was given a live entertainment permit in error, according to the story. Several weeks ago, the city, police, Fire Marshall's office and state office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control conducted an investigation.

"An inspection of the premises turned up little food, assistant city attorney Dan McNamara said, even as the establishment appeared to be preparing for a large crowd," the story reports. "Investigators found 'a couple of boxes of French fries and a couple of boxes of chicken nuggets,' as well as eight eggs. 'There was no restaurant activity taking place,' McNamara said."

Neighbors also claimed that there was live adult entertainment taking place at Club Ra.

Typical conditional permit use. Nothing to see here.

How common is this?

Is it weird that I'm most curious to know out of this story what they planned to do with the 8 eggs?
