I think they've got a winner.
quote:
When the City of Natchitoches banned the Sons of Confederate Veterans from carrying their battle flag in their annual Christmas parade, the group threatened legal action against the city.
quote:
“Of course, the 1st Amendment. Freedom of speech. Freedom of expression,” he said. “The 14th Amendment is protection, equal protection under the law which we deem we do not have."
I think they've got a winner.

As long as it didn't have a dick or the word frick on it, seems like they would prevail.

I'm not an adamant flag supporter, I just see the hypocrisy.
The guy I was arguing with on facebook claims the flag is a symbol of hatred and nothing more. If anything, the Sons of the Confederacy are the prime example of "heritage not hate".

Offensive would be argued but obscenity cannot. This may be a case a southern judge has been waiting for...

Awesome. This will go to the Supreme Court and those liberal antiamerican pieces of shite will hopefully best case scenario just deny cert and frick this group's rights.
Worse case scenario they trample freedom of speech and declare it no longer a right in this country. This wouldn't surprise me or anyone who studies the current Court.

I was an active in KA at Northwestern during the 90's.During the parade, the Sons of the Confederacy stopped in front of the house and gave us a 21 gun salute, pretty awesome.
Im glad they are not backing down to the PC drones.

Did they ban the gay flag too?

Natchitoches is majority black town. A majority of the citizens are offended by one particular confederate flag.
Anyone could have a "rebel" flag with them during the festival, but the parade participants were not allowed. I saw people walking around the festival with rebel flags.
The Sons of the Confederate could have marched with the actual flag of CSA if they wanted. But now their suing because they wanted to use a flag that would offend the majority of the citizens of Natchitoches, a town that the organization is not based out of?

At one time they were about history and genealogy but in recent years they've gone in a political, neosecessionist direction. A guy I know who used to be big in the SCV is no longer active because of it.

Hard for average joe to know if flag is flown by confed sons or kkk. I sympathise with claimant but parade sponser should have final say. If conf sons want to fly flag then they should sponser their oun parade

interesting...hate to hear that if it is true, as they used to be used to be just into reenactments and that kind of thing.

City of Natchitoches is the government and not just some parade sponser.
