Yesterday, in what was supposed to be an innocuous (and possibly humorous) show of support for the late Carrie Fisher — better known to some as Star Wars’ Princess Leia, heroine, and hair fashion plate — ooey gooey cinnamon bun purveyor Cinnabon released a tweet (now deleted) into the galaxy:

quote:

It wasn’t the first time the company evoked Leia’s swirled hair buns in a tweet, but on the day of actress Carrie Fisher’s death the new tweet didn’t sit well with Twitter users. A few hours later the Georgia-based company’s social media team deleted the offending tweet and issued an apology.

quote:

Our deleted tweet was genuinely meant as a tribute, but we shouldn't have posted it. We are truly sorry.

I'm really sick of this current culture and society. I wish I could induce a coma and just come out in like 30 years.

The reaction was over the top but it's in poor taste to attempt and capitalize on someone's death

How is this "capitalizing" on her death?

Agreed. No business, business owner, or individual who may gain anything (monetary, emotional, or otherwise) should make a comment about a popular figure after their passing.

It just wouldn't be right.

And their comment really is committing posthumous rape. Think about it.

Obviously. Just a sad state we are in where tweets are made after people pass.

Honestly, IMO, no one should tweet about this stuff ever.

Meh. They've always sucked. People just haven't figured out that 500 people being pissed on Twitter represents a small fraction of the population.
