True.Snopes is often not correct. In this case, they are correct. CIA analysts often reported on media reports. The use of the word "authoritative" referring to a known fake news outlet gives away the game. He was pranking his co-workers.Little did he know he was pranking people decades later as the CIA did their routine "declassify" dumps.
(Sorry to demystify things, but the CIA is not that impressive an agency. It is mostly made up of bored nerds).

You need to read up on the Anunnaki. IIRC, they were a race of beings that came from a planet outside of our solar system that visited the Sumerians. A lot of evidence of them that makes you wonder.

Fun thread.

I'm trying to figure out the rationale behind weapons that turn people to stone. Do they smuggle them back to their planet and pawn them off as "exotic art from the primitive but talented planet Earth?"

Does this have anything to do with the theory that a space alien gave us the formula for Viagra?

I don't know about anyone else but mama always warned me this could happen in the French Quarter.

Sure nuff, I went down there once and I saw this woman half naked and had to run like hell to get away as part of me started turning to stone.

There is virtually zero evidence of ancient aliens. Just evidence of ignorance about ancient history and archaeology.
Von Daniken, Hoagland, Hancock, etal are a combination of huckster and stage magician. They bring some fun,but they are also full of Shite.

I am open minded about this stuff. History is always changing as we discover more stuff. There is a lot out there we have discovered that cannot be explained in our understanding of history as it is now.

For instance, do you really believe that Puma Punku was built by the "allegedly" same stone aged natives that were found in the New World following Columbus?
The same people who never had a horse until the Spanish came to the New World and were still using bow and arrows?

If you believe that then I think you are a closed minded sheep.

History, Science, Politics and Religion should always be questioned and challenged.

Aliens, Bigfoot? I don't know. But any new knowledge that may shed some light on things we do not understand is good. If it can't be disproven, then it could become accepted History.

Hmmm, I wouldn't say that though a lot of it probably does fall under bs. There are legit questions as to how they built structures in such a way that we cannot recreate in modern times, or how they knew so much about our solar system.

Where did you get the idea that pre-Columbus civilizations were dumb? They were limited by technology, yes, but not by imagination.

For example, we know that fairly sophisticated financial contracts were being written around 3000 B.C. This is preserved in clay tablets from about that time.

They weren't dumbasses and nobody aware of research on the topic thinks they were.

Then we should listen to them when they say their people were created by "gods" who came down from the skies.

I've read all of the books about the ancient Sumerians written by Zecharia Sitchin and I find them very convincing.
