I give them a prayer card and/or a fish

It's normally travel ball teams, public school sports teams, or fireman that do it here
I don't give to any of them
this
or AAU teams
I hate it though
we always had a bake sale, car wash, or lunch plates when we needed money for tournaments when I played

It's funny because the Taco Bell at the intersection allows them to have car washes there which is a great way to raise money
Yet some will just stand there and want it for nothing

That is what the 10% of your income offering income does.
In most churches 80% of the money comes from 20% of the people.
Always amazed me how folks go to church and either give nothing or "tip" with a couple of dollars

forgive me for being skeptical. I've never seen something like that. Surely this isn't common? A church group begging for money? I mean it's just so hard to comprehend. I'd think any and all church groups would recognize the Big Man as the provider and wouldn't misunderstand the gospel so harshly. i have a feeling there's more to the story.
Seen it 4x in a week twice on General de Gaulle in Algiers and twice on South Claiborne ave, both were all black churches waving signs in your face please give us money for our trip to Georgia.

I saw fire fighters holding boots and beginning for money at red lights too.
The OP is a whiny prick. You did not feel like donating. Good for you. Do you want a cookie now?

Some of them are muslims so if that kind of thing matters to you find out who you're giving your money to

While I agree with you, people have disappeared for making threads like this.

I have to give a lot so my kids get good grades in the school there

In Dallas the firemen ask for change one week a year, maybe two six months apart. I gladly give them some change. There is a men's shelter that's sponsored by a church that I've also given to a couple of times. I wish the shelter people would do this somewhere besides the frontage road of I-35 because it is dangerous.
I've never seen kids do this.
My company reached a point where they quit allowing the sale of Girl Scout cookies, or anything else for people's kids, within the office. People have to go down to the parking lot and do the ordering, paying and the delivering. Been that way for at least a decade. Seems some people complained about it going on so much.

I try to run over their foot but it can be tough to miss their legs.
Good times. Give it a try.

I don't tip entities with tax free status

Don't encourage begging by giving.

There is some group there almost every weekend.
The worst I've seen is the firefighters at the intersection of Ambassador and Youngsville Hwy. They stand and walk in between moving lanes of traffic.

High school football teams in Texas have resorted to "begging" for soap supplies and even food donations at scrimmages, in lieu of admission.
Kind of makes me wonder, what with million dollar stadiums and the federal government already doling out food stamps and feeding all school kids, for free, three meals a day (some districts in Texas do it in the summer, too. Yes, some districts have so many poor students that they just offer all students free meals).
The parents, or parent, of these church kids should have enough money saved up to do things like send their kids to church camp.
Our financial priorities, in this country as a whole, are fricked up.

See it a lot in new Orleans, just making it's way to BR in the last few months. Cops should run their arse off the street
