I knew his parents years ago. Nice people. Some of the stories about him contain values and attitudes that they definitely passed on to him.
May they find peace.

I began dealing with a mental illness during my second semester of college. I began hearing voices inside my head and I thought I was possessed. My aunt took me to a doctor and I was put on mellaril medication. The voices stopped but the anxiety continued. I thought I had schizophrenia but later tests determined I had Obsessive compulsive disorder. The day after my mom died in January of 1993, I planned to kill myself by driving into oncoming traffic. I wasn't thinking of hurting another person, I just wanted to end the obsessive thoughts that I was having. I had a depressing job that I was over qualified for. I had a college degree making 5 dollars an hour. My mom just died and I had this illness.
I found a very good psychiatrist in Baton Rouge that was caring and supportive. I started two medications for OCD. 4 months later, I began to think more clearly. I began enjoying my hobbies again and I was thankful I was alive. I suffered 7 years before finding the right doctor and the right meds. Ending your life is not the answer. You are valuable. God loves you. There is a way out of depression. Hold on. Don't give up.

I knew a couple of people at UK who tried. I never discussed with them. It made me uncomfortable. One had scars on wrist. I was so self obsessed in college, i would not have known what to say if they asked for help. Go to hospital. Talk with md.
Nowadays there are suicide hotlines.

Thanks for sharing but curious what these voices sound like. You always hear I heard voices in my head. Was it like constant, overwhelming voices telling you to do stuff? Movies make it seem like whispers I guess you could say

I saw an obit for a 20 year old from U-High who may have committed suicide. So sad...
