Christina Sommers discusses "trigger warnings"

Background Info:
Christina Marie Hoff Sommers is an American author and former philosophy professor known for her writings about feminism in contemporary American culture. She coined the term "equity feminist" to denote her philosophy, which she contrasts with what she describes as "victim" or "gender feminism".
Sommers is known for her criticisms of contemporary feminism, arguing that modern feminist thought often contains an "irrational hostility to men" and possesses an "inability to take seriously the possibility that the sexes are equal but different". Other scholars and feminists have called her anti-feminist for her criticisms and writings. Sommers rejects claims that she is opposed to feminism. Sommers's most notable books are Who Stole Feminism? and The War Against Boys, both of which are critical discussions of contemporary feminism.

Great topic, wrong board.
I met her about 20 years ago after she gave a speech on this. Very sharp lady.

1) is she hot?
2) does she have a huge rack?
3) does she have nudes?

Sorry, I watched the video and while I have no doubt this lady is sharp, this whole topic is ludicrous. Trying to give it serious consideration in debate form is an insult and waste of time.

Now this is the proper level of seriousness that the OT lends to political discussions.

I announced a trigger warning on Friday as a joke.

I lol'd at the part where she mentioned that "trigger warnings" are now triggering anxiety.

Yeah, my class laughed, especially after I said, "you're adults; deal with it".
For whatever reason, the psyche of many students today is very fragile. They seem to believe they always and everywhere have a right to be comfortable, which usually means intellectually lazy and self-satisfied.
This is true, incidentally, for students on the left and the right.

Sommers is a brilliant commentator and is essentially correct in her take of modern feminism, particularly academic feminism. This particular video is on a bit of an esoteric topic, but much of what she writes about (e.g., gender wage gap) is right on target.
