he and luttrell are what the military community calls "entertainment seals." he embellished a ton of shite, so this isn't surprising in the least

Guy was an amazing soldier with a record that didn't need to be embellished.
With that said though, he was a rotten person.

Yep, helping disabled vets was shitty of him.

Saying you would like to shoot people holding the Qu'ran and claiming to shoot looters and car thieves is pretty low rent.
Not to mention the outlandish garbage in is book about finding chemical weapons in Iraq from Germany and France.
Man had an excellent record that he tarnished with his own bullshite.

Lots of us found chemical weapons bro. I don't know if he did or not, but they were found.
That's just a fact.

quote:I disagree. Just because people have done great things, doesn't mean their faults should just be wiped away. His accomplishments obviously outweigh his faults but I'm not just going to pretend he didn't have them. At the end of the day he was a great man but not the untouchable super hero that he was trying to make himself into.

I struggle to understand the ways of the OT, i.e. how this and other posts in this thread don't have infinity downvotes. I can tell you that there is a very real chance that what he received and what is reflected in his official record have discrepancies. Beyond that, why are there anti-seal posts? Even if he did (and that is an if) embellish, what he did for our country cannot be fully encompassed by ribbons and medals. Just some food for thought.
Bunch of e bad asses on here who haven't ever done anything and likely never will. They dog on the seals, older generations, and institutions worth my of respect because they think it's edgy. More likely, it's a constant reminder to them that there is something more important and respectable than they are. And that pisses them off.
(Not all posters here are as I described above, but it's easy to note the ones to whom it applies )

He seemed to have some weird inferiority complex that made him exaggerate--or outright lie--stories. It's kind weird cause it was so unnecessary. He was clearly a badass.
But I think it's important to see the film American Sniper not as a biopic, but a completely different project loosely(or not) based on what and who he really was as a fictional protagonist. They chose to show some human flaws, but probably presented him a little more noble than he really was. Bradley Cooper wasn't playing Chris Kyle the real human, he was playing the myth of him. And it made for a damn fine dramatic film.

he was a lying sack of shite, SEAL or not BFD, a chest thumping, lying, blowhard
Posted on 5/25/16 at 10:25 pm to tduecen
He had to have some mental issues that caused him to lie so stupidly.
