Could be worse. At least they avoided softball.

What about licking the spoon like it's your ugly, grocery-store-footed bedmate's nappy dugout?

thank you for a rational take on the commercial

Was exactly my thought process as well

Seriously. I couldn't care less that they're lesbians. But don't lie about the bitch nature of women in the morning.

Can we get a list of "the possible repercussions" you're referring to?

There was nothing offensive about that commercial. It wasn't tacky.

The other commercial with the "bushes" was much more tacky

I guess I'll just never understand why people freak out so much about gay people.

You don't think it's tacky to have some unappealing lady sensually lick a spoon before tickling her lesbian partner and coyly pulling off the covers and walking to the shower/whatever?

I don't hate gay people and this doesn't offend me. But it is tacky and fricking stupid from a business perspective.

I highly doubt gay people are sitting around going "man, that Chobani is such a brutish and conservative greek yogurt maker....oh look, lesbians, I change my mind, how progressive." People who eat greek yogurt are probably pretty progressive to begin with.

I just hate corporate douchebaggery when it comes to overtures to minority communities that have no business purpose or productive social impact. If Chobani wants to give money to gay rights causes, go right ahead. Disclose it and let people make decisions. But putting out a semi-gross ad that will alienate a lot of people and spark conflict unnecessarily is just senseless IMO.

would it be tacky if she did the same thing, except there was a man in the bed? serious question

I mean...I agree, the ad is rather stupid considering its trying to get you to buy yogurt, but then again, its yogurt, kinda hard to generate talk about yogurt

this commercial obviously accomplished that

Fage is the only authentic Greek yogurt available in the USA. The rest are all just poseurs.

Ad was brilliant. Who the frick actually watches commercials anymore? It's just released and already up on messages boards with pages of discussion. Wait til Fox News, Huffpo, and all the other fake controversy peddlers lock onto it as an issue today. It will end up with millions of views from people actively seeking it out on youtube where they don't have to pay to air it.

A majority of the population will not be offended by the commercial like so many here, so it is a massive amount of free advertising.

ETA - video has had over 100k views in the last 5 minutes or so.

Contrary to trite marketing slogans, not all attention is good. I don't think this is going to significantly harm (or help) Chobani, but if they wanted to generate attention I don't think it was well thought out.

Regarding the male/female dynamic, I'm sure some people would think it is tacky. But to me they're not comparable. First, the 10 second licking has even more sexual connotation in this scenario than it would in a m/f ad. Second, the devotion of the ad to the f/f nature of the scene is the predominant take away, which is dumb considering how small that sliver of the yogurt eating population is.

If they were sitting at a breakfast table, sans the spoon sucking, even with some romance, it wouldn't be that tacky to me. But the commercial was 95% about the lesbian reveal and sexual innuendo, and that's obnoxious. FWIW, so is watching a 30 second close up of a m/f make out to sell jeans.

Greek is a term used for marketing in the US. It's strained yougurt. So instead of calling it strained yogurt, we just call it greek yogurt.

You don't?

I guess the question is "Why can't you see it was over the top?"

When a 6 year old senses an issue with the commercial, and asks their mother "Why is that woman in bed with another woman?" why don't you have similar questions as an adult who should understand morals and right from wrong?

I will add that many Christians are not handling this commercial well in response (comments section). Not good

With that said

Gays are no longer recognizing sin in their lives in the area of being attracted to the same sex, and are now promoting a mindset to get your to believe the same. "No issue at all"

Christians for the most part acknowledge and recognize sin in their lives and are actively / privately trying to weed it out in obedience.

Morals are not for us to change, or create.. They are provided for us from God.

This is an issue because it doesn't pass the moral code.

Sexual sin is a sin against your own body. A child doesn't need to know about it. No one but God needs to know..

Leave it private is the issue here
