So you're saying the Chines can't drive cars or subs?

Kids can’t fricking steer the boat these days because of changes in training policies from what I’ve been told.

They got rid of Surface Warfare Officers School decades ago. Junior officers literally learn to drive and navigate a boat in the fleet.

And from what has been said, they fricked up the training of those officers in the past few years, which is why we have had our warships nearly collide with vessels in the shipping lane a number of times.

They weren’t leaving people in the position long enough to learn it correctly then having them train the guy that comes behind them, which means you now have the blind teaching the stupid.

Why does the media have to give us their opinionated descriptors in every news article.

This statement reminds me of the scene in Airplane 2 were they play different news clips about the possible pending crash each with a different spin on the news.

Understood. What would they do in hostile Chinese waters? Run even more quiet. I’m making a wild guess this trap was set in shallow water, near a naval port.
Most likely.

I've watched enough submarine warfare videos on Youtube to know there's a few fairly deep spots that are basically underwater mountain passes that are known avenues but I have doubts the Chinese are capable of laying traps at that depth without us stumbling across it during construction if not detecting it outright.

What exactly do they mean by trap? Are they actively trying to sink US/UK Naval vessels?

Good question. Thankfully, China isn’t on the same level as the US or UK. China playing chicken and got its own neck cut off.
I have a hard time believing China would be deliberately trying to kill a US or UK submarine, God forbid they did, if they did it would be another USS Liberty coverup or gloves are off.

Don’t worry, Sheriff Joe will hold them accountable for setting these traps for our subs.

Tough for me to say it's unfortunate when they are trying to capture us shipmen. More like they fricked around and incompetenced out.

Uh...google USS Connecticut.

I'm aware of that fiasco, running flank speed in poorly charted waters into a geological subsea seamount. The CO, XO and Chief were all relieved of duty.

The discussion is about Chinese vertical steel submarine traps deployed in the water column.
