Short version is I have a family member who keeps being reported to CPS for abuse of her child. It's being done by someone who we believe to be mentally unstable. If the child gets a bruise then normal MO is hospital and call to CPS. Bottom line is that the reporter just hates our family and resents that they have to pay child support. What can be done to stop this malicious reporting in the State of Louisiana? I can't even find a phone number to call. The one I call only gives useless generic info.

Make your own CPS report. These are easily done online.

I've made several in my career. They are pretty damned responsive. Put in it what you are saying here. Even if they make contact with you or whoever the primary target of the reporting is, at least contact is made.

If you feel the child is being used as a pawn of sorts, or as you say, a parent is mentally unstable, you have reason to make a report.

Calm, well worded honesty is needed. No hyperbole in the report or in your discussions with the investigator. If CPS becomes a dead end, the next step is police and attorney.

I would imagine the cps would instruct you how to deal with a person like this.

So you know who it is? Sometimes all it takes is a visit from a high ranking person in the police dept. to tell them to stop, or else.....Worked for this chick I knew that was being hassled by a dude.

If everything you say is true, chances are CPS is aware that this person is full of shite.

A calmly worded online report followed by a calm phone conversation could do wonders.

I've gotten a child seized before! I could not believe it. The parents were idiots and wanted CPS called. I reported what I found and a guy showed up at the ER. He told me, "we are taking this child, they aren't answering any of these questions right."

If nothing else, you can point blank ask the CPS investigator what normal recourse is for someone wanting false reports investigated. Again, a pep talk with the primary person is needed. This does not need to be a surprise. Calm honesty is needed in dealing with CPS. "BITCH IS CRAZY" is not going to help anyone.

Or Bastard is crazy.

Happened to me, with my step kids dad. After a few calls with no evidence of anything, CPS stopped taking the calls seriously. Then he stepped it up a notch and started calling the county sheriff for "wellness checks". Eventually they too started calling him on his BS. He was calling in like every other day.

The police are well aware of this person. They've stopped calling the police because the police are well aware of what they are doing. They have an attorney but it seems like the attorney is being too nice. It keeps happening and the family is so nice they just take it. I'm tired of taking it and need to find out what to do to stop this nonsense. It's draining time and money. The crazy person (alleged) has been through multiple attorneys and no attorney will accept them as a client now. So they've resorted to what is essentially "free" now. They file a report and they keep the child until the court date. Which the child is returned each time. One day a judge is going to side with them just on the law of averages I guess. It's scary

He's the father of the kid. You just need to accept dealing with his craziness until the kid is 18. You aren't gonna stop him being a wacko by making a few calls. Sounds like your other family members know this.

At least until the child is old enough to tell them that no beating is occurring. If CPS was called every time a bruise showed up I would be in jail because my kids had black eyes, bruises everywhere. They are kids

Having been in this situation, if CPS gets involved and they actually do an investigation on you over this and what you are saying is that it's all BS, then they will see it and move on.

Nothing to worry about really. It's just a pain and inconvenience on your end.

Does the state automatically take you to court over this?

This is exactly what he is trying to do.

IMO letting him know it bothers you will only encourage him. I have a neighbor who is the same way. She is relentless when it comes to irritating people.

Has CPS substantiated any of the abuse claims?

How many times has your family member been reported?

If CPS thinks the reports of abuse are bullshite, they need to report the fake claims.

For a long time, I wondered why some people did things like this.
I finally realized that this is the only control they have in their lives.
They lead a pathetic existence and everyone has started ignoring them.

So, they develop a process that really irritates some people.
