Agree. Palmer House is nice.

Stayed last year at the Chicago Westin with a River View. Within walking distance to cool restaurants including Harry Cary's

Not a great choice of hotels in that area and no attractions other than the ballpark.

Is it easy to get downtown and to the other attractions?

There are basically no hotels around Wrigley... it's a residential neighborhood. Chicago's hotels are centered downtown (the Loop, South Loop or River North neighborhoods)

Most attractions are also centered in and around the downtown areas so you can either take cabs, walk or public transportation if you stay in that area.

Do not try to day near wrigley.

It's a very short and fun train ride to the stadium from downtown.

Tons of great options and attractions downtown....can take a train anywhere and Uber is super easy as well.

Wrigleyville is really cool. There just aren't many hotels (if any, now that I think of it) near there. If you can get a reasonably-priced AirBnB, that would work. Also, if you're staying for a week, it's better to be in River North, the Loop, or Streeterville (where all the hotels previously mentioned are) than it is to be in Lakeview/Wrigleyville. There's a lot more to do besides baseball and bars in the RN/Loop/Streeterville area.

The Lincoln Hotel in Lincoln Park is halfway in between. That's a damn cool hotel and has one of the best rooftop bars in America. Might be kind of expensive, though.

Hands down The W Lakeshore. Amazing views of lake Michigan, the navy pier and just a great property. There is another one within the city but I not only prefer being close to the navy pier (touristy area), but it is also cheaper. Try it out.

Sure, the el runs both ways. And Clark Street is the main commercial strip serving the residential areas with tons of bars and restaurants.

I'm thinking about the Days Inn on West Diversey Parkway. Anybody know anything about it or the area? I know it's not an OT Baller type place, but I'm okay with that.

Was going to recommend TheWit, but then I read your post and realized you sound poor.

I was staying at The Wit in 2010. I saw Derek Jeter on the rooftop bar there one night. Very nice hotel

Clark and Diversey is a good safe area, albeit a little gay if that makes you uncomfortable. It's a short bus ride on Clark Street to Wrigley Field and only a mile walk. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area. You'll get a taste of Chicago that you won't get staying downtown. I used to live just two blocks from there.

Okay, thanks. I'm thinking we will probably stay there and ride into downtown.

You'll have a good time. Chicago is a great place to visit (in the summer).
