I saw a rain gauge in Watson that recorded almost 24 inches from Thursday afternoon until Friday afternoon. Almost 30 inches in 2 day period.

This confirms what my friends mom posted. She showed the picture at 23.99 inches as of Friday around 4 pm. We then received another 6-7 inches by Saturday at noon.

That map is a great example of "data porn." It sure was a "perfect storm" with historic levels of rainfall in a bullseye of the upper Amite watershed.

I read somewhere today that Walker got more rain in two days than Los Angeles got in 4 years.

Damn. And having so much fall right north of Livingston Parish just killed the whole Amite river basin.

1 in 1000 rainfall?! That is just absolutely absurd numbers. You just can't design for that.

I posted this in the big thread, but I don't know how many saw it. It's a 51 second time lapse from Twitter showing all the rain on radar.

Not to mention the ground was already saturated from previous rains it couldn't absorb anything.

Even if that time lapse was for a few hours, I would have thought it was crazy, but a few days?!?!
