Don't need a tail rotor if you have some other system to counteract the main engine's torque and provide yaw control. MD Helicopters currently makes helos without tail rotors.

Mostly classified, but my business partners are usually companies like L3, Raytheon, Honeywell, Lockheed, and my customers are NASA, NSA, CIA, et al.
