Cheapest way to rent a vehicle for a week?

I need to rent a vehicle that will seat 6 comfortably (including 1 carseat).
Any tips/advice on how to accomplish this in an economical manner?
We usually use Enterprise, but their rate for when we need it is outrageous.
TIA

Become friends with car dealer.
Ask to use a Suburban on the lot.
You're welcome.

That would help, but I need the vehicle because people are flying here to me. I'm not going anywhere, and they have their tickets already.

Rent a crew cab truck , put car seat in the back seat and make others sit in the bed

Can at least two of them drive? You could rent the cheapest, smallest car they have for $150/week or less. Just get two of them.

Costco travel, just use the coupon codes found on www.costcotravel.com

Carrentals.com shops all the different companies and gives you the best price.

I go through the capitalone rewards part of their website but then just pay with a card at checkout o stead of cash. It's always way cheaper than the search websites

I'll second Costco -- rented a mid-size from them for 10 days for just over 200 bucks, drove it 3700 miles while I had it.

a couple of smaller cars may cost less than a vhicle that seats 6...that has to be a pretty big machine...

If you are renting in New Orleans, join National Emerald Club, use last minute specials, New Orleans airport always has them, rent midsize for about 17 bucks per day, and grab a minivan or Tahoe or whatever. You can take from emerald executive, they don't check.
