Charlotte Peoples...Need advice & recommendations

Moving to Charlotte in June... Need your advice on what are the best places to look for housing, where to avoid, and what it
I've spent a grand total of 36 hours in Charlotte in my lifetime, so don't know much about the area.
FYI, my wife matched her residency here...I'm able to work remotely & travel a good bit. For reference, this thread.

Lived there for a year, so I'm not an expert, but I know a pretty good bit.
The Dilworth area directly south of uptown is pretty solid. Nice green space, good restaurants, etc.
I didn't take the time to go through your other thread, but if ya'll are a younger couple, near the montford area may interest you. Good young professional nightlife.
Really, there's a lot of places in Charlotte that are good living. It's really just finding a place that is convenient and suits your likings.

I have a sister & fam in Huntersville (north up 77) and a brother & fam in Belmont (west out 85 past CLT). Both are nice, but if I lived there I'd prefer Belmont. Sorry that's all I've got.

SouthEnd if he's young. Literally thousand's of new apartments being built along South Blvd. Several craft breweries. I live there for now but do feel a little old. It's right on the light rail, so you wouldn't have to drive if you worked Uptown.
Dilworth is a great option if he;s a little older or has a family, but wants to be close to Uptown. It basically borders SouthEnd, but home values are skyrocketing. Nice older homes, doesn't feel totally suburban. Close to shops and stuff. Some apartments, but not as many as SouthEnd.
SouthPark isn't bad either and cheaper than Dilworth. A little more suburban, but the area around the mall is exploding with development. Several new apartment buildings and housing ranges in price.
A more up and coming / hipster area would be NoDa or Plaza Midwood. Close to some diceir areas, but lots of new development and houses under construction. Great area for new restaurants. I go there to eat a lot. I may end up buying a house around there, if it keeps getting better over the next year.
If he's loaded, with a family, than Myers Park is the place to be.

Rent in Dilworth or Southend, assuming residency is at CMC. Also realize that their "uptown" is actually downtown.

They call their downtown "uptown".
ie, If you're going to the place with the tall buildings, you are going uptown. There is no downtown (not like NOLA with a separate uptown/downtown). I don't get it either.

Be careful regarding the places marketing themselves as Southend. South blvd near as north of east blvd is awesome. The areas further south on south blvd near remount road are still gentrifying. Housing projects near I-77 and Remount road. I drive through there all the time and never had any fear (not like NOLA--single family project homes, non threatening, no lackidasical jaywalkers trying to get hit) but not sure I'd want to live right there.

The Camden apartments on Morehead would put you right at the intersection of Southend/Dilworth/Uptown. Five minutes from CMC main and 15 minutes from the airport. Walking distance to the panthers stadium and the YMCA.
Basically anything from Park Ave to Providence road, north of fairview, up to uptown, or south blvd from around east blvd up to uptown would put you wife within ten minutes of work, and be within 20mins or so from the airport.
Selwyn ave is a good spot too, between southpark and Dilworth. More residential, but a few good restaurant/pubs essentially within walking distance.

If you're familiar with Houston, the equivalents (albeit on a smaller scale):
Southend--midtown
Southpark--Galleria area
Myers Park--Rice Village
NODA--Montrose (less gay than Montrose, but more hippy and less gentrified)

Lived in Charlotte (actually Huntersville) for a while. Just moved two months ago.
Where are you looking? City? outskirts? North? South?
If you're not looking for big city and can manage heading south, it's much cheaper to live across the border in South Carolina and Lake Wylie, Rock Hill, etc. has some nice place.
North of the city has Huntersville. Nice and affordable. Cornelius and Davidson are more expensive. Mooresville is a land all to itself where its either baller rich or Dale Jr's biggest fan with no teeth.
East is Concord. Bass Pro, Concord Mills, feels more like a southern town.
West is Belmont. Steer clear of Gastonia. Kyle's BBQ is the only reason to head that way.
The city is very spotty as far as good/bad. Almost need an exact address to say one way or the other. Lots of liberals. And when the Panthers play the Falcons, GTFO!
