Two years ago Monday marked the two year anniversary of my grandmother's passing. We are a large family so throughout the day Sunday an Monday, many of us brought flowers, paid our respects. They were all arranged nicely, and certainly not an overwhelming amount.
Today my dad gets a call telling us we need to come remove some of the flowers are they will be thrown away. Anyone ever had this experience before? Just looking for opinions this is rather irritating to say the least.

Are the flowers in the way of the grounds crew mowing or something?

I really don't understand why people visit graves. you are getting nothing more out of talking to a burial site than you are talking to a picture or to yourself in your living room.

I mean the flowers are just a gesture anyway huh? Just let them throw them away. It's not like they were going to live much longer anyway.

To answer quickly: Yes. We've had similar situations in a reputable cemetery south of Sulphur. We've also had situations where items that were literally right beside and no where near the cutting path (unless they cut granite and veteran's metal plates now) shattered by the lawnmowers.

So your only idea for mourning a dead relative is to murder an inordinate amount of beautiful flowers?

Only the OT would find a way to shite on someone for visiting a grave site.

Just leave them. They will be gone before the cemetery crew can do anything about it anyways. Random people visiting will see to that, trust me.

I'd assume this may be because they've been scattered or perhaps some are dying? If the situation is still exactly as you described I wouldn't imagine they'd reach out to you.

I quit visiting graves a long time ago because talking to stones is stupid. There is better than a 50% chance that your pretty bouquet you bring to the headstone will get stolen and put on someones headstone. Not to mention that if there are multiple people getting buried in the same day, chances are your loved one isnt buried in the plot they bought. Its one of the others because the people that bury the dead dont give a shite about who goes where. Who is going to know anyway?

Call them back and tell them to throw the flowers, that you are an OT baller and will be bringing bouquets upon bouquets of flowers to replace the thrown ones.

It's kind of a of you let one do it, then you gotta let all do it. And not everyone will be tactful and respectful. Then they spend all their time keeping the place from looking trashed. Unfortunate

That's not going to be the universal experience and certainly not mine. I have lots of folks buried in one place and I recall many of the graveside services. Being on the ground, for whatever reason, generates an emotional resonance that is not possible for me elsewhere.

I also had a highly unusual experience at this cemetery I'm referencing, and I cannot explain it in rational, objective terms. It bordered on an out of body/ghost story type experience.

So, there's that.

Sounds like a shitty cemetery, I can't even imagine the thought process put behind this, and for them to actually go through with a phone call about it is even worse.

Only thing logical to do is to put some shite in a bag, throw it on their steps and light the bag of poop on fire.
