What I miss?
This dentist now wishes he would have gone into the clear savannah at night and hunted this Lion down "mano a mano" with his bare hands to show the world he is not just an egotistical a-hole.

To the people that it offends... How does this effect your life directly? Will it cause you to lose sleep? Are lions in Africa important to us in the US?

How dumb are you to think this is that important to anyone in this thread? You honestly think the most incensed person in this thread will even argue this topic IRL? It's a message board FFS, you have to choose sides or it is boring.

Yeah, so have I. But anyway, the idea that everyone in this thread who thinks Cecil shouldn't be dead is going to take up signs and protest on Washington is a little misleading.

Mate is there any chance that instead of your next safari you'd consider relaxing on the Amalfi Coast of southern Italy? It's literally the most beautiful place on earth - great wine, food, and weather.

I really feel like you'd do well to refrain from killing rare and wild animals for a spell and instead enjoy some European luxury. I'd encourage you to bring Redneck with you but obviously he'd upset the locals.

Pretty dumb clearly

I am having a respectful argument right now irl about this. Solid points on both sides imo. The other party probably doesn't think so but I do

What exotic animals does Italy offer to hunt? May make that trip happen.

I honestly feel about the American who spent all that time, money, and effort to go kill Cecil the same way that I feel about members of ISIS who are destroying antiquities in northern Africa.

With all the money and free time and options that this Dentist has, THIS is what he chooses do to with it? To disrupt the ecosystem and an entire pride of threatened African lions? What a horrible prick.

I just don't think I comprehend the mindset that goes, "wow, finally, there is that majestic creature, let's fricking kill it and ensure nobody else ever sees it alive."

Yup. Better off letting it just die a month later naturally with no added benefit of funding to the conservation.

*I am talking about the legit hunts, not this specific one. Willing to bet no one reads this sentence.....AGAIN

Maybe the gov't should step in and tell people how to spend their money.

Hunting is a sport, like it or not. If the guy knew they were luring a lion off a refuge and it was in fact illegal. He should get punished.

If he paid for a trip, trusted his guides and really didn't know. No fault to him. I know if I paid that kind of money to go on a hunt, I am paying for a piece of mind that everything is being done correctly.

When I charter a fishing trip, I don't ask the captain if the waters are legal, if the size is ok to keep, I trust that he is the expert and I am along for the fun. I am paying for his or her expertise. Nothing different in this scenario

Trophy hunting is not my thing, I don't have issues with people who do trophy hunt as long as they do it properly.

Poachers are scum and should all be shot, guides who cheat the system should also be shot.

I don't either, but I don't get two men wanting to frick each other either. I don't try to understand just accept people think differently

Except he's done it before and been in legal trouble for it. If he still blindly assumes he's good to go, he's a first class idiot.
