This. He fricked up in pretty much the worst place a white person could frick up in Africa. Mugabe hates him some white folk.

Imagine if the guide lived in Zimbabwe and had a productive farm. It'd go from productive to seized and fallow in record time.

Someone of you all don't realize how truly psychotic hunting for sport really is. You are getting pleasure out of killing another living being, but will be the first to call a minority an animal for looting a store.

Tell me how not hunting an animal will cause it to go extinct.

Because, if you're hunting legal you're hunting only mature animals, the animals are protected on preserves, etc. If you take away the legal hunting, all you're going to have is illegal poachers and oh by the way these animals have no natural predators so then you have to deal with disease and overpopulation.

That documentary Mugabe and the White Africans was really eye opening. It's wild over there.

New CNN article. Guy is a thug piece of shite.

LINK

quote:

Cecil's death was cruel, in Rodrigues' account.

On July 6, Rodigrues said, Bronchorst took Palmer to Hwange National Park.

"They went hunting at night with a spotlight, and they spotted Cecil," Rodrigues said. "They tied a dead animal to their vehicle to lure Cecil out of the park, and they scented an area about half a kilometer from the park," or about 550 yards.

Rodrigues said that Palmer shot Cecil with an arrow but failed to kill him. Then the two men tracked Cecil, finding him about 40 hours later and shooting him to death with a gun, Rodrigues said.

They discovered that he had been fitted with a GPS collar and tried to destroy it, Rodrigues said.

Cecil was skinned and beheaded, Rodrigues said. Contrary to earlier reports, he said, the head has not been found.

And bullshite to the people in this thread saying the media is sensationalizing this story. Who's more credible, the conservation leader of the preserve who has the two guides in custody, or the dentist from Minnesota who paid 50k to kill a lion?

If someone is sincere with their intent to protect and conserve certain species across the globe, they would not feel the need to MURDER them in order to donate money. Donate money and move the frick on.

This guy deserves a bow in his arse.

This guy is clearly an unscrupulous piece of shite. If that's all people were saying, I would agree. But people are saying that anyone who hunts exotic animals is evil, which is just ignorant and uninformed about the true nature of how conservation works.

Lions are expected to be extinct by 2050. There's 34,000 world wide which is down 50% from 30 years ago. Your referring to managed wildlife areas where hunting is necessary control over populations. This is not the case for the lion as its an official threatened species by the world wild life fund and could be listed as endangered very soon.

Then how do you manage the population?

There's a good reason this guide has dropped off the map. He's probably on a ship to Thailand or something.

Not to sound like a dick, but before white people migrated to Africa I'm pretty sure that the natural ecosystem took care of itself. Didn't really need any help thousands of years ago.

Does a population of 34,000 worldwide need your help managing it?

Yes, I am. They have these in Africa, and this is where the legal hunting is done. Poachers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but all hunters are not poachers.

Yes, and North America was the same story, but that's not the world we live in anymore. We don't have wide open spaces for these animals to roam free and let nature take care of the populations. The animals need to be managed now, or else you will either get overpopulation and disease, or extinction from habitat loss and poaching.

Yes! The lions will not make it if they do not have responsible humans to manage their populations and that includes responsible, legal hunting.

It doesn't have to work that way you a-hole! There shouldn't have to be an agreement to kill a few to save the rest. That is like saying I'm going to donate money to the protection of children, but I need to occasionally frick one to protect the rest.

Fair enough, but just don't say all hunters of exotic animals are evil because that is just flat wrong.

Sorry, but that very much is how it has to work.
