I'm still putting more of the blame on the tour guide professional hunter guy. That's just me though.

The original article posted states he had a legal permit. He should know laws and regulations where he is hunting but I would place more on the so called professional guides he paid.

Dumb all around and should be a lesson to all exotic hunters.

I think most of the feelings are exhibited by aggrieved hunters who think that anyone labeling a fellow hunter a douche somehow implicates them.

Calling a guy an a-hole for being an a-hole doesn't strike me as behavior "in need of some perspective."

Dude is a douche, he's getting the treatment douches get. I'm not advocating for his execution, but I'm not going to get in a tizzy because the lion-slaying dork is getting bad Yelp reviews.

Well I'm not a hunter and I have no feelings regarding this lion. I do however think the death of the lion is unfortunate.

As far as your being in need of some perspective, you did say this:
quote:

I hope he loses everything.

That certainly seems excessive and irrational considering you don't know the extent to which he was responsible for the alleged illegal hunting of the animal.

He financed the entire operation and killed the animal for which he didn't have a permit to do so.

Ok. So to what extent was he responsible for the luring of the animal out of the park? Was he led to believe he could kill the animal without penalty?

“The saddest part of all is that now that Cecil is dead, the next lion in the hierarchy, Jericho will most likely kill all Cecil’s cubs,” said Rodrigues.

What about the cubs that Cecil murdered when he became alpha?
What about Jericho's cubs when the next alpha comes along?
When will all this cub murderin' stop?

Would Jericho beat Cecil if Cecil was still alive? My point about humans killing a threatened species, more specifically an alpha lion while he's an alpha. Weakens the breed, species and ecosystem for us all when the weaker are allowed a free pass.

Admittedly, I was operating on news from a few days ago before he was ID'd, and wasn't aware there were potential defenses available to him relating to permits or the guide's actions.

I still think he's a douche regardless, and if people make his practice less lucrative because they learned of his actions, so be it.

I am ok with hunting overall but only if all the rules are followed for the hunt. It sounds like the guide and hunter had a plan to kill this famous Lion, and hope they pay for any wrong doing.

I myself have no desire to do this type of hunt. Lions are one of my most favorite predators.

You'd be doing yourself a favor if you never spoke about science again. This is beyond what you have the capacity to understand

Agreed. The dentist is just an idiot adrenaline junkee with cash and too much downtime. The professional guide lured the lion out of the park which apparently is frowned upon by the local authorities.

One of the cubs needs to step up.

It's his time to shine.

Yes, YESSS, you clearly see the truth in this story. Obviously this vile dentist was not satisfied with killing just any lion; only the life of a famous lion would fill the void in his soul. WhahahahahahaHAHAHAHA!!!

I love stupid PETA type dummies that don't understand the good this hunt does. Props on being an uneducated PETA type though.

I normally agree with this, I hate the blind crusading against all types of hunting, but its fairly obvious that they broke a few rules in this case, and since its hard enough to keep the real poachers away in Africa, I tend to lean towards a fairly harsh punishment in this case. Everybody hunting the high dollar tags over there need to be playing by the rules.

I agree with killing deer, rabbit, and hogs etc that are well populated and actually a challenge to kill, but killing these huge exotic animals is just ridiculous. Now if say the animal is sick then im okay with it, but i mean killing a leopard or lion for sport is just sad. And no im not a fan of PETA, believe me. Those people are way too extreme.

like I said, 18 hour stalk hunt.

And yes, being 50 yds away from a huge cat that could slice you into 10 pieces in 1 second is a huge rush.

Really? what caliber rifle was the lion armed with? Sounds like a fair fight and a huge rush to me.

I grew up hunting and fishing but this is pretty sick. I did not even think it was legal to hunt lions period. Why would you do such a thing.

I don't get killing animals just for sport. Makes me sad.
