A Catholic university in St. Louis has taken down a statue of a Catholic missionary over complaints that its depiction of Catholic conversion efforts represents a legacy of white supremacy

BUT.....

While the De Smet statue is coming down, SLU is forging ahead with plans to erect a statue commemorating a six-day anti-police protest held last October in the wake of the Michael Brown shooting in nearby Ferguson.

The Indian is like "Dude, you be trippin. I'm good".

That Indian is like, "So let me get this right, your god sent his son to earth then tortured him and killed him to forgive man's sins? Why didn't he just forgive man's sins without killing his son? Is your god crazy?"

I read the student editorial quoted in the article. The kid admits to not doing any research on De Smit's relationship with Native Americans and includes this gem...
But hey, he thinks the statue is racist, so SLU needs to stop with the "negative messaging" and be more inclusive.

Most SLU students will never meet someone who identifies as an American Indian; with only 12 undergraduate students who identify as such, it’s a near certainty.

Would have been more interested if this was the St. Louis out of Lake Charles...

How many -isms do we have now?
racism
sexism
classism
I have to be missing a few.

No, but since man sinned ( think Adam and Eve in garden) the wages of sin is death. So, since man sinned there has to be a sacrifice for our sin since there has to be death for sin ( Old Testament sacrifices/ No clue why Jews do not sacrifice since they do not believe Jesus is the Christ) So God had to send his perfect Son to be the ultimate sacrifice so we can have an advocate to God. Unless you believe lightning struck water and you can from that, and there was a big bang from nothing and everything happen to just work out for us in our regional solar system and/or galaxy.

I don't have a problem with people who hold religious beliefs, but when you articulate them like this, you just sounds like a nut.

So....a catholic school is taking down a statue directly related to what the school represents (promoting Catholicism) and are going to replace it with a monument about a community protesting a white officer defending himself against a black man.......society is so screwed.
