I put in a bid request in through a third party site that got a bunch of brokers to give me a price on hauling my used truck. Was about to use one person and he changed his price. I got some other low ball numbers and knew they were crap from my first experience. They all want to communicate by text or email, because all the ones I talked to were foreigners.

How in the hell can you trust a carrier? I thought buying my truck would be the hard part. Any suggestions?

I set something up with uship a while back and seemed like it was gonna be an easy process, even though I canceled. Uship was the broker but a national chain was gonna do the shipping. Seemed clear cut

I asked the dealership I purchased my Jeep from to set it up. I think it was $450 from Houston to Shreveport.

ALWAYS get the dealer to handle this part. They have people, get better rates, you don't have to deal with it, etc

Just make sure you have a timeline in place. I paid to get a motorcycle delivered and turned out they had some kind of system where they did a bunch of pickups, then brought everything to main warehouses, then coordinated separate delivery trips. Whole thing took like 3 weeks.

Try out ACERTUS. I have heard good things about them.

Once the vehicle arrives, you don’t have to accept it if it’s jacked up

However, if it’s on the trailer, what do you think is gonna happen?

You aren’t but a mazarrati or Lamborghini so, no your vehicle is not going inside the box trailer.

Can’t fly there, because it’s Marshall, TX and I need to get it to Jackson or Baton Rouge. If I drive up there with someone and have them drive my car back I have to pay gas for two vehicles and probably $100 for my nephew to do it By that time I will have spent a few hundred in food and gas and wasted an entire day. Hoping I can find a hauler I can trust for about $400 and be done.

Double that to $800 and you'll be in the ballpark for a dedicated truck to take the load. If you want the contact info for a broker that can line that up give me a email address to send the info to.

You better make him drive there since you're paying so much.

I purchased a jeep GC in Salt Lake City and drove it back to Baton Rouge- i received a few quotes and I honestly thought they were ridiculous. I really enjoyed the drive.
I did it the week after Christmas and took my time. Stopped and enjoyed the Rockies, parts of Utah, New Mexico and Texas.

It's been a while, but the process used to be to get your load put on Central Dispatch, which is an online board that auto haulers use to find loads. You have the flexibility to say how much you want to pay and see if anyone bites on it. Depends on how often someone takes that route, or if you pay enough, a dedicated hauler will do it for you.

But if you are looking for the cheap route, you are going to want to be added to someone's load that is already taking that route. It took a couple days for someone to accept it, but a car I won in an online auction got picked up by a driver who happened to be coming to New Orleans on a route near my vehicle in Missouri. He was a random driver pulling a car trailer with a Dodge dually. When he bought my load on Central, they gave me his company info and a contact number.

Ask some local used car lots for a car hauler referral. I caution against using a broker. You will end up dealing with some Russian driver and a damaged vehicle.

Your problem is there’s a minimum price for someone to do work like that. The distance is not the only factor, it takes effort to load and unload and that’s all the same, as well as the risk of just doing the job. You are being cheap, as you said it would cost you $200 just in gas and food to drive there and back so you aren’t going to find someone to do it properly for only $400 as you aren’t including labor and risk.
